My volvo and peanut butter.
I decided today (and yesterday) would be a good days to clean up my car. One thing I really wanted to do is get rid of the ugly wax stains and dirt in the trim of my car. The trim is textured and its sort of porous, so in the past when I was careless it would absorb wax and gunk.
Heres the drivers door yesterday before I got started.

You can see the white spots where wax hit it and dried up. Mothers back to black would just mask it but would not get it out.
Heres todays result. Shiny, smooth, and the trim is flawless. The only thing I have used on it is JIF Peanut Butter rubbed in with a latex glove, then wiped off with paper towels. I was shocked at how much stuff the peanut oils were lifting out of the trim, as the paper towels were disgusting when I finished.

Heres another picture just for the hell of it.

Re: My volvo and peanut butter.
Thanks for an awesome tip.
I recently helped a friend buff some light scratches out (cat attacked his car, haha) and managed to get the black trim soaked in T-Cut and wax, despite masking.
This looks like it should sort it right out...I'm seeing him tomorrow so I'll bust out the peanut butter and give it a go.

Re: My volvo and peanut butter.
If you were using peanut butter you could have wiped it off with bread and had lunch when you were done.

Re: My volvo and peanut butter.
How long did that take to do? The trim on my ranger looks very similar to the before picture.

Probably about 20 minutes to do the whole car. Use a latex glove and it rubs in very easily. You don't need much peanut butter at all. Then just wipe it off with the paper towel after it has dried a little (about when your done with the entire car)
Don't do this in direct sunlight.
Heres a daylight picture of how the trim looks about 2 days later.

Re: My volvo and peanut butter.
Munkey, remember to get that american imported peanut butter from Aldi, UK stuff might not work :D
God it's delicious... I can see why Americans are fat when their peanut butter tastes this good, and especially considering that it has no nutritional information on the back

Re: My volvo and peanut butter.
^^ I actually had a big vat of Aldi's finest peanut butter handy. Awesome stuff on thick sliced bread. :D Have you tried the turkey+chicken sausage from Aldi? It's in red plastic wrapping. That makes the best sandwich ever.
And my friend's Clio now has shiny black trim after attacking it with peanut butter and then trim blacking. He thought I was mad for suggesting peanut butter though...

Re: My volvo and peanut butter.
Nah I don't really eat meat.
Well, I don't eat cheap meat. If I can afford it, it's not fit for human consumption. I'll eat meat in an expensive restaurant but by and large, I'll stay away from processed meats and meals or snacks with any kind of meat in. If I do buy meat for cooking, it'll be from a butcher and it'll be a special occasion only. I mean, if it's given to me, I'll eat it, but there's no way I'd actually spend money on shit like that. I'd rather have a piece of sweaty cheese and a bit of limp lettuce in my sandwich than some scrapings from the bumhole of a diseased chicken, squished together with ligaments and pumped full of flavourings and water.
On the other hand, I'll drink myself until I puke, take drugs, smoke, then spend the next day sitting on the sofa eating crisps and drinking about a million cups of sugary tea, so it's not like I'm a health lifestye dickhead or anything.

Lamb chops? I love to boogie, jitterbug boogie. Chuck em in the hot point vertical grill then finish them with chicken salt. That's a secret family recipe, that is. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay the fuck better than all the marinated recipes we have.
But yeah, if you guys won't shoot me on sight if I rock up and kick the door down*, i'll beer there.
*A 30 block on one shoulder and good Aussie meat (several trays of, not my dick - that'd just be scary to witness a bloke like me kicking the door down and walzing in cock in hand - I know what you were thinking you dirty bung licking bastard, Comerade) in the other hand dictates that I can only knock impatienty using my foot, which is probably gunna take the door off it's hinges.
