JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
Attn Noobs: JP's cocktail was a user's posted list of various OTC ingredients, that supposedly gave the user a massively intense euphoric experience when taken together.
I tried it.
To be honest; the outcome was debatable. The supposedly euphoric state that ensued was entirely questionable within itself. Eventually i began to ask myself as to whether the only noticeably psychoactive effect i received was from the 200mg of caffeine consumed.
With initially high hopes, and memorable quotes such as this from JP, you can imagine my dismay at the overall-deemed failed experiment.
..lying on the couch cooing, being epically lovestruck with bliss cuddling with imaginary people. Nonspecific imaginary people. Who aren't even particularly there, it's just the sensation of being epically blissed of being lovestruck in a cuddlepile. With cuddling. Quite remarkably precisely. It's nice.
My question is:
Guys, what were your experiences with the L-Phen cocktail? Did any of you achieve any kind of level of euphoria? please elaborate.
D.

Re: JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
I love it.
I've only ever tried everything excluding the solanine/AchE inhibitor, a few times.
I've been meaning to give the potato a try for a while now, eh, eventually I'll get around to it.
i prefer D,L-phenylalanine (DLPA) over straight L-phenyl. though.
Even on it's own, it wins. there are so many positives.
It makes opioids, and pretty much all drugs work a-lot better.
It's like the best anti-depressant ever, really helped during withdrawal.
I'll always have a bottle of DLPA around.

Re: JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
I don't get shit from this cocktail, save for maybe acting as an anti-depressant... though never tried in conjunction with the green potato, but instead used Huperzine
I'd like to L-DOPA though, which supposedly produces the same end result as his cocktail. Of course in my case would be nothing...

Please can whoever has experienced win with this cocktail provide their doses and experience- no matter how vague?
It'd be much appreciated.

Re: JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
L-phenylalanine and L-tyrosine mostly end up mostly turning into noradrenaline and its metabolites which aren't too desirable. If you really want pure dopaminergic effects then try L-dopa with pyridoxine and a decarboxylase inhibitor like EGCG or carbidopa. For phenylethylamine high get something like unproccessed cocoa or blue-green algae, and an MAOI.

Re: JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
L-dopa with a decarboxylase inhibitor
I took this.
Co-Beneldopa.
I made a forum/report on it a while ago and it's fail- all i felt was nauseous and shitty for the rest of the day, and needed to lie down alot.
Needless to say i kick myself now due to not taking the other boosters that were necessary in order to make this experience become win..
Oh well.
If i get a chance in the future, i will get hold of moar Co-beneldopa and the boosters required and make a thread on the experience.
It was the lacking vitamin B-6 and L-phen if i remember correctly- due to B-6's absence, the l-dopa+decarboxylase inhibitor took too long to become dopamine, leaving no massive substantial increase.. also the l-phen was actually needed to release the dopamine created.. therefore major fail on my behalf.
The actual intellectual-based expert level chemistry jargon can be found here in this thread:

-*Makes mental note*-
Too much dopamine in a certain part of the brain causes nausea and vertigo. Drugs that are know to do that include opioids and nicotine, if you have any experience with taking too much of those you would know.
If you can't get a decarboxylase inhibitor then i would skip the vitamin b6. The DCI prevents the vit. b6 from wastefully converting levodopa into dopamine before it crosses the blood brain barrier.
L-phenylalanine may increase dopaminergic effects, but also make it dirtier. But their are ways to decrease DOPAC production, which is the intermediate between dopamine and the less desirable adrenergic neurotransmitters. I'd rather take D-phenylalanine instead. It inhibits enkephalinase, which is the enzyme that breaks down endogenous opioids such as enkephaline and beta-endorphin. Opiates disinhibit dopamine pathways thus increasing the warm, euphoric dopaminergic effects of L-dopa. :)
After reading over much of JP's stuff, i see that he doesn't know what he's talking about a lot of the time. But he's way smarter than 90+% of the total fucking noobs on this forum that know nothing about even fundamental biochemistry or pharmacology.
First off one important thing when taking amino acids is to avoid eating 1-2 hours before ingestion, otherwise it will have to compete with other amino acids, from protein. Also avoid carbohydrates, unless you're taking L-tryptophan, because it will trigger a release of insulin which will offset all amino's except for l-tryptophan.
If you want a good cocktail of boosters for dopamine precursors then try mine if JP's doesn't work for you:
- Camillia sinensis (tea). preferably high grade white tea. Has l-theanine which has dopaminergic actions. Theirs also caffeine (15-40mg's depending on tea brand/quality) which increases dopaminergic activity. A flavanoid called quercetin in tea, is a mild MAO inhibitor, which increase dopamine and trace amine levels. Vitamins, minerals, and catechins are also present which may have a positive influence. Strong Anti-oxidant effects of this plant from polyphenols are also beneficial.
- D-phenylalanine
- Essential fatty acids - shown to increase dopamine levels by up to 40%, as well as serotonin, endocannabinoids, and other NT's.
- 500mg magnesium
- 5-10mg manganese
- B-complex vitamin supplement
- 120mg's of gingko biloba
- 5-10 grams of vitamin C - though i'm not sure about this one. It's a neccesary co-factor like vit. b6, but also increase conversion to norepinephrine. Though their are some studies on animals that show that doses of 5-10 grams can increase dopaminergic activity, while higher doses decrease it.
- COQ-10
- L-carnitine
Maybe throw in a multivitamin/mineral for good measure.
Meditation can also greatly magnify dopamine.

Re: JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
...
Ah oops, i'd edited my post above before seeing yours. :)
I'll definetly take into account the D-phen when i re-dose in the future.
Co-Beneldopa does contains a decarboxylase inhibitor- Benserazide, and of course teh levodopa. This is why i was suprised at the failed outcome of my experience, i thought it was guaranteed win..
...
And again, i wrote this post before i saw your edit :)
Thanks for the wealth of information. I'll definitely try your take on the synthesis in the near future, whether i get hold of the Co-beneldopa or not.
Sounds like win.

Re: JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
I and my buddy are both fans of the cocktail. No uncontrollable euphoria (I think some 5HTP might be needed for that), but if I haven't got adderall, a phenylalanine cocktail is the next best thing, IMO.
I am also interested (as I expressed in the last thread demented made) in using LDOPA/PDDI. I am looking into it, but looking slowly.

Seriously, on the same level as Adderall? i mean it isn't cooing in a lovestruck haze, or whatever quote JP came up with, but thats still pretty damn significant.
I mean, to me the above just sounds like the l-phen cocktail is alot more speedy than E-like.
Which doesn't make it better or worse.
but srsly hydro, please can you elaborate as to what the euphoria itself is like? a basic amphetamine rush, with no comedown?.. badass.

..
I can relate to what JP was talking about with the intense euphoria, and adderall doesn't even come remotely close. I took some mucuna pruriens capsules one time (contain high level of levodopa and other alkaloids like nicotine and 5-htp), and also took a tiny dose of tramadol (25mg's), and several bars of dark chocolate a little later which intensified it. I swear to god it was the most euphoric high i've ever had, maybe even better than my first experience with MDMA or opiates. Everything was incredibly beautiful, and I had no desire for anything. In a sense it was like ego-loss because I was completely content to just be, and devote all of my time in serving others, like those people who're experiencing an ecstatic spiritual experience non-stop. The bliss was almost overwhelming.
It's rather very diffult to fully put into words, but i'll write up a proper report some other time. It was just like JP said, that state right when you take a high dose of opioids, right before you start nodding. Pharmacologically i'd say it was mostly just a powerful stimulation of dopamine receptors that caused the intense euphoria and feelings of unconditional love. Other effects typical of dopaminergic drugs included increase in internal body temperature, mental stimulation, analgesia, altered perceptions, uncontrollable smiling or laughter, etc.
I've tried getting this high again but wasn't able to quite reach it unfortunately. I think it might have caused some damage to neurons, like a sort of dopamine syndrome, because my body wasn't used to this kind of strong CNS stimulation. So it's neccesary to take other supplements to prevent neurotoxicity like magnesium and anti-oxidants.

I should clairify: I've never found the cocktail to be recreational, only functional. I don't get "kicks" from amphetamine, I use it to get stuff done. The phen cocktail does me like some low-dose amp. I haven't tried it at high doses (either the cocktail or amp) and have never been tempted too. No blissful euphoria, just focus and drive. Take it as you will. I am still fucking with the cocktail and other various ingredients to boost/alter it and at some point, will write about whatever I've discovered. In the mean time, I am swamped and am happy just using it as I do.
but srsly hydro, please can you elaborate as to what the euphoria itself is like? a basic amphetamine rush, with no comedown?.. badass.
And yes, a benefit of the cocktail is no comedown. Just speedy afterglow. Just research 5hr energy, it's basically the same thing s the cocktail (except it's got weaker cholinergics and B6/B12) Assuming I didn't overdo it on the B6/B12. As for euphoria, as you mentioned before, more speedy than E like. On this note, I have some faith (I'll try to test this at some point) that if one were to take some tryptophan (or 5htp) there would be a much more e-like sensation.
As for explanations for failure and doubters of the cocktail, I must ask if you used a legit cholinergic. While JP suggested the green potato, and later provided a reference, I have significant doubts about the effectiveness of this. I might be railed against for saying this, but I think JP might be off in this case (BLASPHEMY!!!). While his ref showed it was an AChEI, it didn't specify to what degree. This knowledge in combination with the fact that solanine is highly toxic for unrelated reasons would make it a bad candidate for the cocktail's cholinergic. I, personally, would recommend Huperzine A.
Anywho, the cholinergic is probably one of the most important parts of the cocktail (up there with the phenylalanine). When JP talked about the cholinergic, he said one should be showing definite signs of Acetylcholine poisoning, IIRC, something about pinprick pupils and stomach cramping.
I swear to god it was the most euphoric high i've ever had, maybe even better than my first experience with MDMA or opiates[...]The bliss was almost overwhelming.
It was the tramadol. The mucuna might have potentiated the shit out of it, but trust me, it was the tramadol.
I think you're underestimating the effects of serotonin. I have little in the way of refs to back this up, but I believe that dopamine in and of itself, is basically a stimulant. I believe this simply because I associate meth with get-up-and-go and MDMA with mmmmmeuphoriammmm. Meth is primarily active via dopamine and MDMA is primarily active via serotonin.
I've tried getting this high again but wasn't able to quite reach it unfortunately.
Did you try the same routine (mucuna from the same vendor, dosages the same)? I would be curious at why it wouldn't work twice.
I think it might have caused some damage to neurons, like a sort of dopamine syndrome, because my body wasn't used to this kind of strong CNS stimulation.
No worries. You'd be hard-pressed to do any real damage to your CNS in one go. I know people who've done stuff once and gotten permanent damage, but they OD'd (like REALLY OD'd 10x recommended dosages on first time kinda' OD). Your synapses should be fine, pending additional abuse without neuroprotectants.
So it's neccesary to take other supplements to prevent neurotoxicity like magnesium and anti-oxidants.
Mg FTW!!!

Questions:
1) Where can I get L-Dopa? What product do I need? I've read several threads but stumbled upon no clear answer.
2) What is the best source of phenalynine / triptomine? (spelling?) I've been using an artificial sweatner with aspertame in it, but haven't been getting great reasults.

Re: JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
1) Where can I get L-Dopa? What product do I need? I've read several threads but stumbled upon no clear answer. http://http://www.cognitivenutrition.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=78&csid=2e72713774993089aa084543eb3c2f32&sl=EN¤cy=
You could also use mucuna pruriens, but I'd feel better knowing what and how much of what I'm taking, so I'd go with the link above. Or ebay. either way, just get straight L-dopa, rather than mucuna extract.
2) What is the best source of phenalynine / triptomine? (spelling?) I've been using an artificial sweatner with aspertame in it, but haven't been getting great reasults.
Artificial sweetner is LOSE. I wish it weren't so, but despite the fact that it looks like you're getting a gram of the shit, it's really 99.99% maltodextrin. In each packet or gram of artificial sweetener there's only like 1mg of phenylalanine. Spend $20 on ebay for pure L-Phenylalanine powder. Same goes for tryptophan. That's the cheapest way (BY FAR) to get the stuff.
3) Would a green potato be better than tomato leaves or Huperzine?
No tomato leaves or green potatoes. Seriously, don't even bother. Get some huperzine A. Take a capsule of huperzine with the phenylalanine.
4) Which variation of the cocktail will potential morphine the best?
Though I spoke against it above, mucuna pruriens WITH phenylalanine should do you real good. So, 2 hrs before mucuna, morphine, and phenylalanine, take: 20mg niacin + .4mg folic + 15mg iron + 25mg B6 + .125mg B12 + (50-100)mg caffeine, then the same thing 1 hr later. Then, 1 hr later, take your mucuna, morphine, and phenylalanine, along with the huperzine. as soon as the effects kick in, take 250mgs of magnesium and another 250mgs an hour later. As for dosages of mucuna, I have no fucking clue. GLHF
I do not condone, request, or advise any action, legal or illegal, and as such it's not my fault if you fuck up and die.:)

Re: JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
It was the tramadol. The mucuna might have potentiated the shit out of it, but trust me, it was the tramadol.
I should mention that i'm addicted to tramadol, and 50mg's would only get me to baseline level at the time. Even when I had no tolerance, 100mg's wouldn't give me nearly that great of a high.
Methamphetamine enters the brain and triggers a cascading release of norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin, with amounts release in that order, NE being the most. To a lesser extent methamphetamine acts as a dopaminergic and adrenergic reuptake inhibitor and in high concentrations as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI).
MDMA mainly causes release of serotonin, and to a lesser extent norepinephrine and dopamine. Oxytocin also plays a role through indirect stimulation of 5-HT1a receptor.
Though I don't know what you're getting at. I don't think serotonin had very much to do with it. Sure mucuna had a tiny amount of 5-htp, but i've taken much larger amounts of it before, and the effects were nothing like what i've experienced with mucuna.
Did you try the same routine (mucuna from the same vendor, dosages the same)? I would be curious at why it wouldn't work twice.
I've tried two different brands, both standardized to contain 50mg's levodopa per serving or 333mg or whatever it was, I don't remember. Though I will try the same combination again, next time I order some mucuna.
No worries. You'd be hard-pressed to do any real damage to your CNS in one go. Werd. I felt fine the day after. It was just a thought though, that maybe i killed off some off-the-top ones, which won't really affect me normally, but won't allow me to get that high again. It should have repaired itself by now though, if I haven't burnt it out further with my other drug use.

1.) theirs several sites like vitacost and others that sell dietary supplements. Theirs also IOP's that sell levodopa/carbidopa. I would reccomend getting a Mucuna pruriens supplement for l-dopa. Make sure it's standardized to contain a certain level of l-dopa, or just check ratings and reviews.
2. phenylalanine can be obtained from dietary protein and supplement form available at pharmacies. triptomine? do tyrosine or the trace amine tryptamine?amino acid l-tyrosine i'm assuming, can be obtained the same way as l-phen. L-phen is also metabolized into l-tyrosine so I would rather get a L-phenylalanine supplement, then you get the trace amine phenylethylamine as an added bonus.
3) That's stupid. Are those supposed to be cholinergics or anti-cholinergics? if cholinergics just get some nicotine/tobacco or DMAE supplement. If anti-cholinergic theirs always benadryl, unisom, or dramamine available at local pharmacy.
4) potentiating morphine is another thing. check out this site http://opioids.com/opiates/index.html

If this were true, every meth user, cocaine user, or person who is medicated for their ADD would have Parkinsons. Its not that simple. While increased dopaminergic activity is likely to burn out your neuro-junk, the brain has a number of safeguards against this. Moreover, one can further protect the brain by taking magnesium. Magnesium counteracts glutamate's NMDA activity, which has been shown on many cases to cause cell death and is currently under investigation for causing parkinsons. IE, TAKE MAGNESIUM, EVEN IF YOU DON'T BOOST YOUR DOPAMINE
I should mention that i'm addicted to tramadol, and 50mg's would only get me to baseline level at the time. Even when I had no tolerance, 100mg's wouldn't give me nearly that great of a high.
Bummer. Well, now you know about Magnesium and its tolerance and neuroprotectant goodness. Anywho, I like the idea of Ldopa and 5htp as potentiators. your experience seems to back that up.
Methamphetamine enters the brain and triggers a cascading release of norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin, with amounts release in that order, NE being the most. While meth is really active at NE, NE sucks ass from a recreational point of view, which is why I went to the second one on the list, dopamine. Dopamine (with minimal serotonin activation) produces meth high, not cuddly, lovey-dovey, but OMGIMSOGAKKKKD!!! MDMA, more known for its cuddly, lovey-dovey effects, is mostly serotonin. The reason I mention this is that your experience pointed to the more cuddly, lovey-dovey, at one with the universe feeling, not the OMGIMSOGAKKKKD!!! feeling. Thus, I concluded that your primary active potentiater was the 5htp, (serotonin), not the LDOPA (dopamine).
I've tried two different brands, both standardized to contain 50mg's levodopa per serving or 333mg or whatever it was, I don't remember. Though I will try the same combination again, next time I order some mucuna.
Post results. Dopamine and serotonin are known to synergise very well, so it might be worth also getting some 5HTP, but w/e.

Ahh... it was probably the frequent tramadol use more than anything. I still have faith that the right combo of mucuna and stuff should put you back in that place of euphoria.

pure dopamine in my experience is more stimulating at the mental level, but more relaxing at the physical level. I've experimented a great deal with learning the subjective effects of all energies including dopamine, serotonin, and others. Using the most selective substances, so I can get a feel for dopaminergic, serotoninergic, noradrenergic, etc. effects, so I can measure imbalances of them in my body or whatever.
The effects i've gotten from l-dopa were almost purely dopaminergic, and to back this up, they felt just like the warm dopamine rush from opioids, and to a lesser extent amphetamines. You would expect that I would get this big ego-hardening effect and go OMGIMSOGAKKKD, but it wasn't so much like that. Although I did feel very confident, It was also like you described, the cuddly, lovey-dovey, one with the universe effect.
I think you are right with one thing. Their is a thing called a serotonin/dopamine balance, and I guess that's what one should strive for, not just having high levels of one or the other. Having the benefits of both at once is probably what produces this high above all others. So maybe their was some involvement of serotonin in my experience, but I don't know how. Then again you can't compare my experience to those amphetamines because they are different pharmacologically, so theirs no basis for arguing.

Re: JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
Good stuff:)
But now thinking back, the effects seemed rather psychadelic in nature. Mucuna pruriens also contains psychadelic alkaloids like bufotenine, 5-meo-dmt, and DMT. Normally they aren't active because they are broken down by MAO enzyme. But something could have inhibited MAO. I dunno... I probably took some kind of substance with MAOI properties that time like gingko biloba, which I take daily, I was also taking quercetin at the time, tobacco and cocoa which probably had the strongest MAOI effect. Those affect mostly 5-HT receptors, which could account for the serotoninergic effects.

Re: JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
Dopamine (with minimal serotonin activation) produces meth high, not cuddly, lovey-dovey, but OMGIMSOGAKKKKD!!! MDMA, more known for its cuddly, lovey-dovey effects, is mostly serotonin. The reason I mention this is that your experience pointed to the more cuddly, lovey-dovey, at one with the universe feeling, not the OMGIMSOGAKKKKD!!! feeling. Thus, I concluded that your primary active potentiater was the 5htp, (serotonin), not the LDOPA (dopamine).
There's also the enkephalinase inhibitor activity of D-phenylalanine, which probably contributes to the effects of the combo.
Have any of you experienced anxiety or insomnia from JP's combo? I've used selegiline before and this all seems like a complicated way of reaching the same elevated dopamine levels that I can get with a few pills. However, selegiline causes too much anxiety to be useful for me, which is why I ask.

Re: JP's L-Phen Cocktail: Experiences
To be clear:
L-dopamine+Phenylalanine+Huperzine is the basic formula? and what dosages for each? .. Quite vague looking through the threads on what it actually is :P

First, no that's not mine or JP formula. Second, dopamine isn't an amino acid, unless you mean L-dopa. If you want to know the formula then look through JP's thread or look at my posts for mine. I posted dosages for some of them, but with others it depends, and i'm not really sure if they would be right for everyone.
