Default Honey Oil

I made some honey oil i followed the directions i found on you tube but it seems like it came out really runny. We let it sit over night and it still is the same we used about an half oz. of shit bud.

Collect the oil from the weed onto one of those glass sheets. You can even get ones that come with a kind of tupperware lid for storing it. Anyways, its easy to place this on the stove on low heat to evaporate excessive butane off of the finished product.

Or avoid the fire hazard and put the container containing the oil in a hot water bath.

I don't even use buds, I use trimmings I get from a friend who grows and I get very good quality. It's never been runny.

Don't use Ronsol brand butane. For some reason it doesn't work very well. I spray it onto the glass door of my entertainment unit. Sometimes I spray it into a glass pie plate. I do that when I want to refine it a little. I do that but waiting about 3 minutes - for the butane to evaporate - then I put it into an oven that is set for about 125 degrees for about 15 minutes. You need not worry about fire and butane after those 3 minutes.

Use a blow drier to dry. OTOH, you might have used shitty butane with crap in it, in which case, you're fucked, and there's not a whole lot you can do about it.

All that you need is heat.
In your climate(I'm assuming it's snowing there..,) it's quite cold...

Room temperature won't work like most BHO extraction write-ups suggest.

Like suggested, blow dryer or hotplate(without flame)..

Concurrent. THC won't leave 'til 600F, so don't hesitate to toss it in the oven at 450F for half and hour. Hell, after most of the butane's gone, it's pretty flame-safe, so if you don't have patience for the blowdrier, you could put the oil on the stove for a little.

Eh im not 100% sure but i dont think this is correct, keep in mind that THC vaporizes around 350 degrees. Putting it in the oven at that temp is just going to boil away all the goodness.

That number you cite is THC in a vacuum (and it's actually 392, which is closer to 400). Everything boils WAYYY easier in a vacuum. So, at atmospheric pressure, THC probably only vapes at ~600F.

Dude what the hell are you talking about? Commercial vaporizers vaporizer weed / oil at about 390 degrees. Maybe their is something i am missing from this but i am pretty damn sure that if you put weed / oil / hash in an oven at 450 degrees that it will vaporize.

You make a good point. My only answer would be that the vaporizers put more heat into it than they say. But this seams a tad unlikely, so I should try to back up my stuff with empirical evidence. A guy I know who lives on a boat in international waters (such that weed is legal) has been making honey oil since '05. In his most recent experience, he has begun to dry the oil using a hot plate set at 450F. After cooking the oil for a half an hour, the oil is allowed to cool. It has lost no potency, yet now is very solid at room temperature (rather than the tree-sap like goop that honey oil tends to be like). It is alternatively possible that it is the hot plate that does not transfer as much heat as it says, but w/e.

As for my other answer, that number 392F is at a pressure of .02mmHG (a near complete vacuum). When a substance is at a lower pressure, it boils at a lower temperature than it would at a higher pressure. For instance, water at a pressure of 4.58mmHg, water boils at 0C, not 100C, as it would at 760mmHg (atmospheric pressure). It then follows that if THC boils at 392F at 0.02mmHg, at 760 mmHg it would boil at a significantly higher temperature than 392F.

Make sure you're using butane with nothing else in it (Meta probably knows more about this. Not Ronson brand apparently) and don't use an open heating element to boil off the butane. A hot water bath will work fine, and won't light the vapors on fire. The hazard goes away after most of the butane's gone, but really, if there's still a trail of vapor thick enough to light, you're going to have a huge fireball because you wanted to salvage thc off of trim.

...that sentence made it sound worse in my head. Nevermind. Do whatever must be done and stay high.
