The ingridients in my caffeine pills, and what each one does.
So I looked at the inactive ingredients in my No-doz pills to take a look-see at just how much crap I'm putting in me when I take a pill, usually 5 a week on a normal week. The normal level of caffeine is 200 mg. per pill. The inactive ingredients I've listed and added my assumption at the form and function of them:
Benzoic acid: Light acid. Its salts are used as a food preservative. 5 mg for every kilogram of the body. Is the accepted amount before it becomes a body burden.
Carnauba wax: From the leaves of the carnauba plant. Tablet coating agent.
corn starch: Anti caking agent.
FD&C blue No. 1: Coloring agent. Banned in Australia, Germany and Switzerland for hyperactivity.
Hypromellose: Semi synthetic polymer, used for a control delivery component to delay the active ingredient.
Microcrystalline cellulose: Inactive filler.
Mineral oil: Prevents the pills from adhering to one another.
polysorbate 20 : Emulsifier.
Povidone: Water soluble polymer. A binding agent.
propylene glycol: Diol alcohol. Moisturizer.
Simethicone emulsion: Anti foaming agent
Stearic acid: fatty acid. Used to produce a pearly effect
Sucrose: Dissacharide. I guess it's just American to have sugar in everything.
Titanium Dioxide: Provides whiteness and opacity.
So what I don't really know is the level in milligrams that these substances are in the pills. I would assume that it is from greatest to least (I listed in the order the bottle had them in). At the same time, I wonder how much cellulose they use as a filler, alot would mean they are being cheap about the caffeine, how much Titanium dioxide content there is, since it is a carcinogen, and what the Sucrose is doing there. Without knowing the level of these, along with the dye and Benzoic acid, I cant calculate how much I take a week.
Thoughts?

You can get pure caffeine powder from united nuclear if you don't want all of that other shit in your pills. Just get some gelcaps from a health store and make your own.
