Is paroxetine a benzo? I'm kind of confused on this one, I don't know much about pills, especially benzos. My buddy has five Paxils that have 20mg of Paroxetine Hydrochloride in them. Is this a benzo in the traditional sense? Thanks in advance.

of COURSE they're benzo's. just a different kind of benzos which is why they are called paxil and not benzos. if they're not benzos then HOW COME THEY ARE PRESCRIBED FOR ANXIETY??? allcityking there are a lot of jerks on here that spread misinformation for a quick laugh.. don't listen to any of the posters above me. you can use them for recreational mind numbing, however I don't suggest your friend uses them all at once (since 20mg is quite the high dose) they are the strongest ones that are pink if i'm not mistaken.. anyways pop one of them (do NOT CHEW IT aka: time release) it could be dangerous.. if you do then the 12 hours worth will be released instantly.. just pop one whole and if it's not enough after 45 minutes then take a second one (although I doubt you'll need it.) do NOT take three.

OP, if you just fucking googled it, all sources would say that it's a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), with some much smaller actions on noradrenergic and muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. It's used for anxiety because serotonin has a calming effect, causing you to not think so much about bad things that you eventually start to freak out and have a panic attack.
