opiate tolerance questions
i was thinking about this and i need some help on feedback, cause im planning on temporally quitting so my tolerance will go back to normal, or at least half of what it is now.
how high is my tolerance on a scale 1 - 10?
today ive shot 3 8mg dilaudid pills throughout a 6-7 hour period. and im not nodding. prolly would have done more too if i had more time and didn't have to work. and after my last shot i wasn't even as high as i wanted to be and will not be nodding tonight.
within a 48 hour peroid i took 80mg of methadone.
i want to be able to shoot up 8mg of hydromorphone and be able to nod like when i first started.
how long should i stay off of opiates to get back to there. and how bad would my withdrawals be?
thanks in advance.

First of all, that ain't ever going to happen. It's never going to be like it first was.
Now based on what you said I'd say you have a pretty decent tolerance. About say a 7. You'll be able to lower tolerance some but never like it first was.
If you stop using cold turkey you're going to regret it big time. The only way to bring your tolerance down is to only do enough to keep you out of w/d and do that for a few weeks. Or you could taper off.

Re: opiate tolerance questions
Don't go cold turkey, i would suggest you taper off. The withdrawals are going to be bad (especially with that methadone) Try to have some muscle relaxants (xanax, valium, kolonopin) or weed on hand because they help quite a bit. If you are truly addicted be ready for the shits, puking, cold sweats (especially at night), headache, restless leg syndrome and some other shit. Opiates are a double edged sword, when you can control yourself you can pretty much avoid withdrawal (even if your doing it everyday). It all depends on how much your taking, how frequent you do it, and how long you have been doing it.

Don't go cold turkey, i would suggest you taper off. The withdrawals are going to be bad (especially with that methadone) Try to have some benzos relaxants (xanax, valium, kolonopin) or weed on hand because they help quite a bit. If you are truly addicted be ready for the shits, puking, cold sweats (especially at night), headache, restless leg syndrome and some other shit. Opiates are a double edged sword, when you can control yourself you can pretty much avoid withdrawal (even if your doing it everyday). Though benzos can relax muscles the term "muscle relaxers" refers to a different type of drug. Included in this category are flexeril and soma.
Everything else was spot on though.

Re: opiate tolerance questions
Be sure to take magnesium to keep tolerance minimal.

and
http://www.ionchannels.org/showabstract.php?pmid=8137155&redirect=yes&terms=NMDA+Opiate+tolerance+inhibition+antagonist
Magnesium is the body's natural NMDA antagonist. The top article is a tad uncredited and erroneous, but the bottom article is widely accredited. Theoretically DXM would work as well, but it's more expensive, and frankly, I have more faith in magnesium. In the past few weeks there have been tons of threads on "OMGZ, I'D IN W/D FROM OPIATES" And it's all for nothing. I make no claims, guarantees, or endorsements, but the studies done are pretty conclusive. I recently did a paper on the subject and there are MANY documented cases of tolerance inhibition.
As for a pseudoscience explanation, opiates cause a bunch of firings in sensitive parts of the brain. These firings are not related to the recreationality of opiates, but a by product of it. The sensitive parts of the brain are not meant for that level of firing, so they begin to desensitize and shut down receptor cites. They can be inhibited by NMDA antagonists.

Re: opiate tolerance questions
Acute methadone use does not have a very long halflife maybe 24 hours. When I took it the first couple times it lasted maybe 12 hours and was worn off completely in 24 hours with light withdrawal creeping up. When you take it daily alteast a week before you start getting a build up. But some people metabolize it differently than others.
After a month of methadone 50mgs er day it took me 5 days to start withdrawing.
it will take you a few weeks to get a good tolerance drop. I mean after 5 days of being dopesick you will dose and feel pretty high but your tolerance will shoot right back up to where it was. Even if you quit for a few weeks to a month your tolerance will still go back to where it was pretty quick.
