Mine was an acrylic pink bong nicknamed "Bob" that a friend and I bought together for $10 at around age 16. The friend that we bought it from had bought it from another kid we knew who later ended up being one of my regular dealers before he had kids and was forced to get a better job.

Oh and "Bob" our bong had a Graffix skull sticker that the guy we bought it from put on. Memorable for some reason.

"Bob" was later found by my friend's father and destroyed. :(

So what was your first piece?

I had a black metal bowl with a plastic psychadelic grip. This was when I was very young, and I took it apart and hid each piece in a different part of my room to be sneaky.

A shottie bottle I made myself. I cut a section out of a Fanta can and wrapped it around a pen into a cylinder then burnt a hole near the bottom of a coke bottle, stuck the tube in and held it there with one of those rubber wristbands with "Stop bullying" or something on it. Shotties are cheap and nasty but probably the most economic way of smoking weed short of using a vapourizer.

My first homemade 'bong' was one crafted from a Gatorade bottle, a length of my neighbors hose, and some of a Red Bull can molded into a cone piece. It worked relatively well, and was completely airtight. I had it for ages, until one day I got really high and left it somewhere.

My first purchased piece was a bong in the shape of a psilocybin mushroom. It was a relatively small and compact. I've still got it lying around home, albeit it's now technically my brother's bong, as I can no longer smoke weed, due to weekly drug tests at work. (The joys of working for the Government/the man).

My homies had a hookah, our first decent piece. We had it coaled up in the garage of a foreclosed house, having a little bowl smokin' get together with some other dudes. We left the hookah there when we were done, and told the drunk, ambien-ed faggots inside to bring it in by sun-up.

Well they didn't, and someone got it. We finally found out it wasn't them. :(

Well I've got a few that I used 'first'/around the same time , I first made the big 3ft one but didn't actually get a chance to use it for a while ..
I made a little vape out of a lightbulb, later stole a couple of test tubes from chemistry at my school and use them for the vape ..
Also used a shottie made from an old plastic bottle and a socket for a bowl ..
The 3ft bong is win, still use it lots, it was from a big 'aquarium' style thing for fish, a 4" diameter acrylic pipe with a nice base that was originally about 6ft long but the top half was cracked, I cut that off and it's about 3ft tall now, got this random 'jar' sorta thing that had an open bottom and a tapering top which I glued into the top to make it smaller/easier to use .. For the bowl I both have an old halogen lightbulb connected to a bit of copper pipe, or I have a big socket if I can't be bothered with water and just using it dry, it's nice ..

i had a kickass little 25$ bong from a headshop around belmont and clark...it was red, plastic, and shaped like a skull...gave the HARSHEST hits i can remember, but got ya plenty stoned:)

That sounds pretty cool. I bought one of those types of pipes during my first trip to a head shop - I was eighteen and paid $12.00 for one. It had a mouthpiece, three pieces that comprised the resonating chamber, an "elbow," the bowl, and the bowl cap. The bowl cap was cool because it had a hole in it about 1/8 inch. round which you could light the weed through and then quickly cap to save the herb from burning while you weren't puffing.

Yeah, I think all bowl lids have the hole for lighting. Gotta love em. Just run the flame down that bitch and it pretty much goes out after the hit. And the resinating chamber is something you don't see anymore. I used to smoke every day and would just keep the weed in the chamber until I was just plain outta weed. Most of the time it was about a week or two, then pull that bud out the chamber and proceed to bake my brain. Dems was the good 'ol times. :D

The first thing I ever smoked out of myself was an Altoids can with a big hole poked in the top, a small one in the front and on the side. i taped foil over the big hole and poked little holes with a needle. That thing got me high quite a few times, I actually got scared of marijuana by smoking 3 bowls out of that thing..

my first purchased piece was a shitty like, 3" long glass spoon I got for 5$ at a gas station. broke that one, bought another of the same in a different design, broke that one, got another one of the same, then i got a chillum, broke it, bought a pipe, broke it, bought a chillum, had it stolen when i was too drunk at a party and passing around a bowl, bought a bong and had it taken away, and now i'm using a sherlock i borrowed from my friend. i just felt the need to type out my piece history.

It was a 2 liter bottle with the bottom cut off, an old bread bag (lol) taped around the bottom, and then the cap with a socket in it. You stuffed the bag up into the 2 liter then as you lit the bowl you pulled on the bag slowly till the whole thing was full of smoke, unscrewed the cap inhaled. I remember the first time i showed it to my friends they were like whaaaaaaat the fuck man

Very first piece I tried to make was an apple bowl, but it sucked. Made me gag; I almost threw up. Couldn't get the weed/resin out either.

The next homemade one was the joint gravity bong, which I've described in a previous post of mine. My girlfriend hit it when I first made it and said it got her the highest she'd ever been up to that point. (Of course, we've both gotten higher than that now.)

When I decided I wanted to to try Salvia, I bought a bong at the same time. It's still the same bong I use today. I consider this my first real piece. It's glass, about a foot tall, nothing special, but it gets the job done. The slide I have on it now kicks ass, it's got a blue handle, and a decent sized bowl compared to some of the smaller ones I've seen. Ashcatchers and percs are awesome, but I've invested about $60 in this piece so far, and I really don't see myself buying much more for it in the future. Having to buy replacement slides every few months is costly enough. Plus, this bong is sort of portable; I wouldn't want a bigger one that I couldn't smuggle around.

My first pipe was one that I built when I was 14, in freshman pottery class. I had built a typical looking bland cylindrical bong about six inches at it's tallest with a bowl built on top and a mouth peice clay stem sticking out the top. Anyway, it was too obvious so I Just smashed it with my hand and It smashed into this perfect shaped face, with a nose and a mouth, and I carved eyes into it and it became this little round some what crude yet comfortable massive clay pipe that hits like no other and has a carb that is so small you can hardly find it, but works nicely. It's called, The Face.

A few weeks later I bought my first glass pipe which was a really beautiful simple color changing peice with my favorite colors and a few swirls and bubbles. I used it for a year and a half or more until one day I was smoking in the exit stairway of an apartment building, and I tried to grab my peice (which was in a small crown royal bag) out of this strange concealed pocket in the bottom of my backpack. (Love that thing:P) Well, the CR bag was not tightened well enough and needless to say in my haste to smoke my lady friend's weed the pipe flew to the concrete floor sending a shattering echo up and down, spray resin across the descending stairway. I fell to my knees. We said nothing at all as we sat and silently smoked her bowl out of her cheapish chillum.

My first real piece was a shitty little pipe I bought from my friend. Payed him $5 for it but he paid it back to me an hour later for a Hydromorphone pill.

The back of the bowl was broken into the nose of the pipe which made it possible to hide a chunk of weed in the back of it.

It was a real piece of shit.

Ended up selling it after like 4 or 5 monthes.

My first was a little stone holdout piece that belonged to my dad. Small little thing, but it worked well and it had sentimental value. Nearly burned my damn lips off smoking salvia in it :D. My mom found it and presumably junked it.

On topic the one post about the homemade clay pipe reminded me of high school sculpting class. Every time the art teacher had us working clay a bunch of kids would make pipes and whatnot, sneak them into the kiln and try to sneak them out once the thing had finished. I can't recall how many times the teacher would angrily display the busted pipes before us all demanding who made 'em.

My first was a makeshift bong made out of a Tropicana juice carton, pen and blunt; hastily put together in a drunken/baked stupor.

My first bowl, and the one I still have to this day has a 5 year use history that I know of. It was bought by my neighbor who ditched it on the bus because he was being searched for drugs. My other friend snagged it and used it for a while before it was passed on to me. It has since been by bowl for over 4 years even though it doesn't get used anymore.

It is a metal bowl that can be screwed and unscrewed to take it apart. There are two "modes" for it. One is a normal straight-pipe and there is an attachment to make it into what my friends call a "toilet bowl" which looks like a miniature bong but holds no water. I later on got a blue cap for the bowl that doesn't match at all.

It is a high-quality smoking device and I keep it to this day just for the memories.

Man my first thousand pipes were always some creative Macgyver shit. Once had a bubble gun converted to an electric pipe, pull the trigger, light the bowl, and instant laziness. But my first bong was a green, thick, probably double blown foot tall baby. She had a pull out bowl, and fucking ripped. Ah the memories, or lack there of, since I'm not quite sure what happened to it.

First pipe I ever owned was a homemade little piece made out of my asthma inhaler (which, coincidence or not, I never needed after I started smoking weed). I actually have it to this day, ~5 years later. I rarely smoke out of it, it's more of a memento.

My first pipe i made one night with my friend out of bamboo. I broke it though. The next time he came over we each made a bong out of bamboo. I made another bong for said friend as a going away present. It was made out of plumbing supplies that i got at Home Depot. I need to make another like it for myself, but i have no reason to until i get a new dealer.

Mine was probably some piece of shit made from a bottle of water and plenty of blu-tac. Bongs aren't worth it unless you're going to invest in a decent one. In my opinion.
