So, for this holiday, i am left at home alone with nothing to do. for the next two days im going to sit on my fucking ass. sounds fun, right? not when you are by yourself and only have a book to read. all out of herbs sadly... but i was thinking about scratching my pipe. some will be pissed, say its a waste of a thread and what not, but i was just curious. does anyone have a method for getting the resin out of their pipes? of course, there is scratching it, which is obvious. but my friend always tells me to heat the pipe first before i scratch it. stick it in the microwave or hold a lighter to it. some people boil theirs, but i have found it really ruins the luster of the pipe. i know that salt and alcohol will get all of it out, but then i wont have any to smoke. anyone have a good method to get the most of of the resin in their pieces? thanks.

A knife or paperclip takes a long time, but is good for the lazy man...not much movement and product is ready once you're done.

Has anyone else experienced this when boiling their pipe? its just not as shiny and has a sort of gritty feel to it?

and is there a chemical extraction that would work best? butane or alcohol? and then ive got to evaporate it, im assuming. fuck. such a pain. i wonder if its even worth it.

but i do have a fat pipe, a little metal one, and a glass bowl for my bong. so from the three im hoping to get at least a bowl.

If its a glass pipe plug one of the holes with your finger, then pour in a little bit of 80% or more rubbing alcohol, not much though. Do not add salt, shake it vigorously to remove the resin and pour the solution onto a plate. Then proceed to light it with a lighter, if you dont use much alcohol it will burn away within a minute and you can scrape your resin up with a razor off the plate. I know lots of people who have done this and it still gets them high, the burning alcohol doesnt destroy the resin.

Be sure to use a high percentage rubbing alcohol or it will not burn that well. And also be sure that you dont catch your clothes on fire and to move the bottle of alcohol so it doesnt explode.

dude the coolest shit happened to me the other day. i noticed my carb hole was covered in risin, so i used the bowl as the carb and hit the carb hole with a flame. it cherried the resin in the pipe and i was hittin that shit for hella long. i got hella lit. and the pipe was glowing red. you should try it.

I tend to just use a long screwdriver over a smooth surface and scrape up and down fast whilst turning the pipe slowly although this tends to scratch a little and doesnt get it all out. That only really works if its a straight open ended pipe like a shottie tube or bongd downpipe. Otherwise just soak it/them in a strong solvent like alcohol or acetone then evaporate it off in a dish leaving you with resin you can scrape up with a blade and smoke.

The bowl from your bong is definitely going to be the easiest. I've found that a paper clip is the best tool for scraping one of those. Personally, I don't even use alcohol, I just scrape and smoke. I get it really clean with just a paper clip, and I haven't noticed any scratches on the piece yet. Three pieces worth of resin should have you high for a while. I scraped one slide and got a bowl and a half worth of resin.

I recommend scraping it once before applying heat, the stuff gets a bit messy and hard to work with when it's hot and runny. Use a knife to scrape out what's in the bowl...for pipes, paperclips with a very slight bend at the end work well for the hard to reach areas. If you have stems laying around in the ash tray, you can grind them up and mix them in with the resin for a more even burn. Hey, if you're gonna do some crackhead shit, may as well go all the way.

I have a glass spoon and what I do is to add a bit of alcohol to my pipe and then heat it from underneath with a lighter until the alcohol begins to boil slightly. Most of the resin will dissolve into solution. I usually dump this out, but you can dump this into a jar fitted with a coffee filter. Let it filter, then evaporate the alcohol to obtain your resin. If you have alot of resin, you may have to repeat this a few times.
After you're done, fill the pipe with some alcohol and salt and shake. The add a few drops of dish soap to the pipe. Shake. Then rinse with water. This will remove the dullness from the pipe and restore it's luster.
This should work if your pipe is metal; you might have to apply more heat for longer though.

Just scrapping it out is the best way if you are actually going to save the resin to smoke, but if you just want to clean you peices up you should buy the shit they sell at head shops. The best brand is "Purple Power" my dealer has a 5gal bucket of it, and you fill up a dish and soak your peice for a bit and move it around to get swish the shit inside of it every once and a while. After it soaks just wash it out and it comes out looking brand fucking new. Another brand name is "Formula 420" I think thats the name. Purple Power is the best shit tho.

They are just standard cleaning solvents which have been given fancy colourful packaging, branded and had the price jacked up to sell to gullible stoners with too much money and expensive peices.
