Ok, so I've got ADSL2 through my house but the people I share the house with constantly have downloads going, the internet is shared through a router that sends out WIFI signals, and we all connect through it. This has really pissed me off beacuse the people I live with all fucking use that bandwith and I can't play CS-S or any game for that madder without high ping, how can I go about disabling there bandwith while I want to place games, or do my own thing?

Tell everyone that they may only torrent during certain hours. If they don't agree stop paying for the internet.

Exactly what I do, on an IP address basis. No screwing around with a particular protocol or port, i just give my address top priority. I have to be somewhat careful with this setup, if some torrents get out of control and upload gets clogged, web browsing stalls occur on our other networked compys. It really does make a difference though, fewer lag spikes and a lower average ping in games when theres other traffic.
