Bonsai cannabis?
I'm getting an apt next year and have decided I'm gonna A. grow a few cakes of shrroms at a time and B. grow pot, but the thing is I can't have a large plant as I may have guests (parens), so does anyone know of any good guides to growing bonsai plants? What kind of yield can I expect from one plant?
thanks

Re: Bonsai cannabis?
Check out the strain called Lowrider...
I've heard from some by gradually bending the stem over that you make the plant grow on its side... dunno

Re: Bonsai cannabis?
There are tons of ways to control the height of marijuana plants. My first grow cab was relatively small, so I flowered at 4 weeks in veg, used 1 gallon pots (w/ coco coir), and switched to all 2700K light in flower to prevent stretching. I had some sativa dominant genetics too, and I was able to keep their height below 50cm. If you flowered earlier than 4 weeks, or used an indica dominant strain, you could grow them much shorter. I have grown plants to flower in 16oz drinking cups that were probably only 25cm tall at maturity and still produced some decent buds. You don't need lowrider strains to have short marijuana plants. Oxydose is talking about low stress training (LST), which is yet another way to control height. I don't use LST because it's a hassle and makes the plants look all mangled. Google 'SOG' growing too.

Re: Bonsai cannabis?
You better damn sure check norml for your state laws before you even think about doing that. If you grow in certain states, the penalties are cruel and unusual. Growing in Oklahoma for instance is 2 years to life. And, Ive seen in the news a few people getting 50+ years for growing a few plants.
I got arrested a few months ago for growing 7 plants, and I got charged with felony manufacturing, felony distribution, and possession of CDS, plus numerous other charges that were only fines. That was 11 years possible in jail, my bail was $75,000. I got everything dropped because I proved I wasn't dealing, and I am a pain management patient with a oxycontin prescription, and I proved that I wasn't receiving narcotics while I was growing and smoking, so the court was easy on me. And, I live in a liberal state, if you are in a red state, be careful. They said they had probable cause by an anon. informant, which is BS, I think they used infrared to see my lights in the basement. I lost my house, my car, and a lot of money to stay out of jail.
Growing pot isnt in your best interest, especially combined with cultivating another CDS, being mushrooms. If you are in a red state, you will probably be facing 20 years possible for this.
Just buy it, its not worth the risk unless you live up north or a state with proven medical marijuana.

Re: Bonsai cannabis?
Well, as far as making it a bonsai, I doubt the quality of the weed would remain in tact. You're dwarfing the plant, so you will be dwarfing the buds as well, meaning they likely will be very small. You can check out the great outdoors forum for more information on that.
But I don't see how a smaller plant will help. It's still going to stink to high heaven, and it shouldn't be the plant itself that you're worried about -- it should be the smell. What kind of environment is this going to be in?
Also, this will probably be moved to TGO

Re: Bonsai cannabis?
Dude, just build a cab. You can have 4ft plants no problem. Put a lock on it and stick it in a closet or something. That way guests in your apt won't think twice of it.
Check your lease too, and when the landlord can enter the apt... sometimes they tend to just show up w/o notice, so make sure you know what it says in the lease.

Re: Bonsai cannabis?
I'm in Massachusetts where in January up to an ounce will be decriminalized, so I'm assuming that the laws are more lenient (if anyone can clear this up please enlighten). Yeah I didn't account for the apartment smelling like dank, so does anyone know if there are any smells that come from caking some shrooms? I would most likely just grow those under my bed or something.

depending on where exactly poopsex is, you may be able to cultivate your mushies outdoors to avoid jail time in case you get caught.

Re: Bonsai cannabis?
Mushrooms have very minimal smell when growing them, even when using horse/cow manure or compost. But they do have a smell when fan drying them, and its just an earthy musty like smell. Nothing incriminating and nothing a spray of oust wont fix when company comes over.

Oh I know, the op was just wondering. Either way, if he gets busted growing weed and the cops also find a mushroom op, he is royally fucked.

Re: Bonsai cannabis?
one could look into using giberellic acid to control the growth of the plant while not fucking the growth of the buds (or promoting growth of the buds while stunting the growth of the stalk).
it would be worth looking into for the clandestine grower.

And have your plants go hermaphrodite and stretch to the max? I dont think so.
Besides, that would be like giving a person steroids and an exercise regimen to make them small and weak.
There are other plant hormones that do shorten internode length.

Look into Lowriders, LST (Low stress training), Computer grows, Stealth grows... Google is your friend. Have a look at some of the grow forums too but read/search before you post, we dont need anymore posts on this shit and you will only get the same replys. For the smell, DIY inline carbon filters and plug in air freshners are your friend.

I have heard that lowryder is a pretty shitty smoke. BUT I have heard that lowryder 2 is a pretty good smoke, and dieselryder is a top notch smoke. With all the other autoflowering strains inbetween.

Re: Bonsai cannabis?
Forget about lowrider I & II for smoking and growing, they are shit and pretty much just provided the genetics for the huge range of auto strains out their now. Look into Auto AK47 Highest yielding, still stays incredibly small and its a really good smoke too.

You don't need lowryder genetics.

5 weeks in flower.
large root space = large plats
small root space = small plants

agreed, I never messed with growing myself since bud here is pretty damn good and cheap (80-100$/oz USD), but thats just fucking cool. How much did it end up yielding?

Re: Bonsai cannabis?
She yielded somewhere around 10g. Not much, but I was just fucking around growing her. She was also neglected quite a bit compared to the other girls.
