Default Are mushrooms as amazing as they seem?

Reading all the experiences on eroiwd, they just seem like something that turns people's lives around. Like a re-awakening. Just reading this stuff makes me see beauty in nature and seeing how the simple things in life mean so much. Some crazy hippe shit? Is this just an illusion? When you take E, or adderall, yeah, you're happy, you feel like you're discovering stuff, but it's SO FAKE. Once it wears off, so does your new mind set. Is this the same on shooms?

Just like with everything else, your perspective eventually wears off. If you don't get a stomach cramp/pain, I highly recommend going for a dayhike on shrooms. The spirituality between mother nature and I absolutely blew me away.

they do have the power to change someone's life around (should read stupid noob's mushy trip 'report')

as for whether the enlightenment is an illusion or not...

scientifically you could say that it is. but personally, I believe that many times it is 'real', but also comes with the possibility of thinking up dumb shit. but typically you can tell which is which. and so many things you can think of are absolutely beautiful.

this is a great topic btw. could be debated endlessly (for psychs in general):).

might think about it some more and get back.

I can honestly say that shrooms changed my life. I saw a beauty and felt a peace that I had never imagined. I thought of things that were so simple in principle, but had a meaning so complex that I felt like a fascinated child re learning everything all over again. It projected me into what seemed like another universe, although everything was still the same. Every object, every thought, every blade of wavy, swaying grass had an energy that seeped inside of the depths of my soul and made me want to love it, as I was being loved endlessly.

If you have the right mind for it, shrooms can open up a lot of doors that you never knew were there. I highly suggest taking them on a warm day outside.

I actually had more of a life changing experience with MDMA then i did with shrooms.

Feeling unconditional love and acceptance towards everyone and everything for the first time gave me a lot to think about.

I was going to say the exact same thing. I havn't taken pressed e pills before, but pure MDMA can be a truely amazing experience that can be quite life changing, at least to a similar degree as mushrooms.

Is this the same on shooms?IMO, yes, without a doubt, unquestionably, unarguably, yes. One of my favorite drugs. But as is common held knowledge when it comes to drugs, it's all a matter of opinion.

I've always held the belief that for the duration of the trip, LSD gives you a window into insanity, whereas Magic Mushrooms hurl you through it. But that's also debatable as it is a question of dosages. I like shrooms more than LSD because I feel less in control, and it feels more natural and earthly because that's essentially what it is. Lending yourself to the drug and trusting it to your greatest asset, your mind. I've always felt more in control on LSD, even in high dosages.

I would say LSD allowed me to have more normalcy in some of my revelations.

Mushrooms can get kind of random sometimes, although it is a much more useful psychoanalytical tool.

I found that high dose LSD has a much longer lasting mental effect while mushrooms give a lot of food for thought, but generally I didn't find much of it really life changing.

if I had to put it into a saying:
Acid is life changing
Mushrooms are life affirming

acid will make you realize things that you had no concept of before. Mushrooms will make you realize things you overlooked or should be paying attention to.

(I know this is a mushroom thread, but I felt that the comparison was necessary to get my point across.)

I think ecstasy was more life changing than mushrooms.

Changed my behavior a lot in a more positive way. I got some really good pills though so thats probably why.

Shrooms fuck with my head a lot so its not so life changing really to me. What I've learned from shrooms is that I'm really fucking lonely. I figured out that shit and I didn't even it realize until then and now it fucks with me everyday.

But ya shrooms have potential if your a mentally sound person.

Then fix it.

But anyways, I love shrooms, but I haven't even scratched the surface of that window, yet. Shrooms are honest, yet brutal. Sometimes things you find out on shrooms will upset or frighten you, but you need to let go, and explore how to resolve the conflicts in your mind. :)

I've always been a scientifically inclined individual and always looked down upon religion. I still do look down upon mainstream religion but the first time I dropped 2 hit of LSD I found God. For the first time I noticed how truly complex and intricate the universe really is, dropped to my knees and praised my creator. I found myself rolling around in the dew drenched, early morning grass having the utmost respect for all life. I just felt like lying down in my mother's arms, as the Earth is my mother and I am its offspring.

I always knew all of that, but that night I saw it in a perspective that almost made me break down into tears of joy. The only words I could bring forth were, "Oh! My God!"

Not Jehovah, not Allah, not any of those "earthly" human-given names and religions does this divine power justice.

Set and Setting are key, I'm by no means an expert on hallucinogens compared to some of the others who've already replied, but going into the experience desiring transcendence and introspection will produce a very different experience than going into it just thinking "Let's get fucked up!" While not something to rely on for positive life changes, the experience can be beneficial and fun at the same time, Win-Win.

I don't have much more to say on the subject but if you prepare for the experience properly, find the right people to do them with (or do them alone if you want), and plan some good activities for the trip. You may find that you will have a sort of "mushroom epiphany" that may have you thinking/socializing/acting slightly differently, lasting several days to several weeks depending on the person.

Yes they are really once you have a full blown trip. The way that you will look at things is so different and you can just sit back being fucked up an appreciating everything that is good in life. Plus they make you laugh hysterically, I can't think of a time I had a laughing fit like the ones I have on shrooms. Good times I tell you, be sure to jump on any opportunity to pick up some shrooms. They are hard to come by where I'm at.

Are these changes and realizations you guys are talking about real? For example after coming down off a nitrous high I get the infamous "insight" or "realization" that is common with nitrous. But it wears off as soon as I remember that I did nitrous. Nothing life changing.

Both mushrooms and LSD have given me multiple extremely positive life-changing spiritual experiences. I do not think their power or depth can be overestimated. Both of them gave me a window into infinity and the potential of my self.

I'm a very happy and motivated person thanks to them. Use psychedelics right and you will learn a lot about yourself and everything else. Take some mushrooms or acid, let go, and just be happy in the moment. Enjoy everything for all that it is.

Holy shit, words I wish I could have said to others in the past right there.
While shrooms can show you COMPLETELY new things, for me it shows me what I'm already overlooking, and why I shouldn't be. Things I already "understood" and "knew" would all of a sudden be things I understand and know. It's like experiencing reality, not just knowing it. I feel it's all real, you just need to be open, realize you won't keep that exact feeling but you'll never forget the truths you learn.

If you freak out at any point, laugh about it, you'll realize it's simply funny to be afraid of the very thing that keeps you alive, everything.

EDIT: The first time I did E it changed my life too, I will never commit suicide because of it and I have tried/failed years ago and have a copious amount of mental illnesses that made me want to. Now, I never could because just like on shrooms I discovered that there's to much love here, and I have no ability to cause that much pain.

what is the highest dose of mushrooms you have taken?

people aren't adventurous enough with hallucinogens it seems, which I think leads to a lot of people missing out on their true potential. They can't kill you so why not go fucking nuts with them and test the boundaries of sanity.

i myself have never tried LSD or mushrooms, i dont know if its ever a bad time to take them ( yeah set and setting is fundamental) but i figure it will be a while before we cross paths.

What im saying is if had some LSD right now i would give it a go at the drop of a hat, but i dont and im content with that.

I have some saliva but to be honest im scared to give it a go.

I personally wouldn't do the two together, they have different feels and I wouldn't want to mess up the uniqueness of each drug.

I would say I wouldn't worry about doing anything risky on hallucinogens. I've never had hallucinogens (even high doses) impair much of what I could do sober. Me and many of my friends have tripped since middle school or early high school and there has never been an issue with hallucinogens involved.

edit: Killallthewhiteman, Hallucinogens are strongly suggestive and I believe simply psyching yourself up and believing everything you tell yourself can largely create for a positive headspace independent of set and setting. That is, whatever you go into a trip believing the drug will do, you have a much larger chance of having a good experience (and depending on personal will power, similar or exact effects that you went into expecting).

I know this probably wouldn't work for everyone, but with the people I've introduced to acid (some even very paranoid individuals), it has always worked. When I introduced one of my good friends to acid he had been a tweaker for a long while, we had a VERY strong trip and he had massive ego death, and he instantly was able to cut back his compulsive use and now only does drugs when he has the money and time to enjoy them.

He had never been able to control himself before, it's amazing because he is totally a changed person now.
