Default San Pedro cactus

Hi guys, I live in Australia and I'm wondering if it's legal for me to cultivate the plant, if it is, where abouts could I pick up some seeds?

Oh yeah, I'm only interested in gardening and ornamental purposes, not consumption, blah blah blah.

I'm not sure about the legalities of it, I think it's one of those gray areas; whereby you could probably get busted for it, but probably wouldn't if it's only small quantities.

Anywho, I know that in Adelaide you can obtain the seeds/plants from a store called Happy High Herbs - not advertised, or displayed, but more of a "under-the-counter" type thing.

Also, I should hope that it's not for consumption, otherwise I'd feel terrible having given you this information. ;)+

Whereabouts in Aus?

Damn, that was quick. You're obviously an insomniac like myself :)

I'm in both NSW and Vic frequently. Just wondering how long they take to grow and what's involved specifically (sunlight, water, when to keep them inside and out during which seasons)?

I live in University dorms so it isn't the easiest thing for me to keep alive. Anyway, I'm thinking about asking my unsuspecting parents to grow them so I can have a nice looking desk plant, but I'm afraid they might get the wrong impression if they find out about all this sacred ritual nonsense I keep hearing about :)

I'm pretty sure its legal to grow, just not to consume, people in California had huge ones growing in their backyards as landscaping plants.

As for growing it in the dorms it shouldn't be that hard, but cacti take forever to grow, you're looking at a year before it starts to mature and then another year for it get a fair amount bigger...I doubt many people would realize what it has inside of it unless they've done the research themselves...

That... is a... long... time. I just found out I can get about 100 seeds of either Pachanoi or Peruviana; what would you guys recommend? Can't find any concrete info from the net so I'm asking for experience I guess.

But two years for one or two doses, jesus.

Hehe, nice. But it's from the brits so I think I can shop around aus for much cheaper.

I'm going to try ringing up my local nursery tomorrow and see if they have some whole ones for sale, hopefully they do and at not too high of a price. It's gonna be awkward asking for a San Pedro cactus then trichocereus Pachanoi or Peruvianus though haha.

"I'm looking for a xmas present for my brother who likes cacti... I think it was called San Pedro... yeah. But I've been told to avoid Peruvianus due to its spikes and go for the Pachanoi instead... uh huh... WHAT?! I DO NOT TAKE... DRUGS?!"

Haha.

Instead you should just ask them what types of cactus they have available...

I just checked, they have them at my local nursery but the going rate for one a meter tall is $110AUD, pretty steep.

So it turns out I need to buy a shit load of powder (like 1000g) as the general rule of thumb seems to be that 100g dried = 300mg Mescaline which is sufficent for a good trip, and so I can get 10 trips. Does anyone know of any reliable and cheap vendors or imports from Peru at cheap prices or something?

I don't know about where you live, but around here (Berkeley) a local nursery seels foot tall ones for 15 bucks. Growing them from seed is not the way to go, though. Whoever said 2 years was being very optimistic. For a cactus, even a fast growing one like san pedro, to get from seed to the height you need, a foot or more, will take several years. It probably won't even be big enough to transplant for more than a year. I planted some San Pedros my freshman year in high school, and after a year they were maybe the size of two big toes stacked. Buy a cutting.

I'm in Australia... would buying a kilo or so (over 2lb) of dried San Pedros skins land me in trouble trying to get it through imports?

They're sold for 'insense purposes' but I fear this is a grey area in the law and may indirectly link me to mescaline charges somehow?

I have quite a few friends interested in this stuff, plus if I pay for the shipping all the way from overseas I might as well get a bit to last.

How many trips did 60 grams get you? I want a few... like 5 or so decent and visual trips.

have yet to take it...

apparently 35-40 grams is a medium-stong dose depending on amount of mescaline (which is uncertain)...I plan on taking either 50 or 60 grams total

Wicked! 10 mins away.

Okay, well I rang them and it's about $30 for a foot long of cactus. BUT, for the first time in years (just my luck), they're out of stock because it's growing season or some bullshit.

So in about a month or so I will finally have my hands on some real sticky icky :)

I wouldn't exactly call it a grey area.

http://www.erowid.org/plants/cacti/cacti_law.shtml

they are perfectly legal to buy/sell/possess for ornamental use.:)

Whereabouts in Aus?They stopped selling them over the counter about six months back. They were holding their last one for me to sell under the counter after they were unable to sell them anymore but I never got around to buying it cause I spent all my money on pills and LSD. I always regretted not extracting mesc. and trying it out. I don't think they would have kept it this long or ordered anymore but it's definitely worth following up. You'd have to pay an arm and a leg though probably.
