What can a guy do?
What do you do when your good friend is just being crushed by his soulless gf?
She is pretty much always with him because she doesn't have any real friends. She's patronizing and condescending to him. She's not the least bit fun or funny or interesting. But, you must ask, surely she's a dime then? Nah, she's pretty foul.
She uses him for various things. I'm not saying a guy shouldn't help his gf with whatever she needs, but she is just using him half the time, like taking his stuff without asking.
On the rare occasions that she's not around, he's a totally different guy. He laughs more, smiles more, is just a HAPPIER guy. He actually knows this though, its not like he's delusional. He just doesn't know what to do, talking to her has failed in the past.
I have to be around her a ton too, because she's always with him. Sometimes I wish I could just punch her in boob for the crap she does/the way she treats him/what she says but I can't because it kind of has nothing to do with me...
He's only with her because she's his first girlfriend or something. They're totally different people (ie, he's a cool, funny, super laid back guy, and she's this uptight shrew devoid of any redeeming qualities), and I don't think he would be with her in most situations, but now he's kind of stuck with her.
Its a shitty situation, but I guess he's in an even shittier one. Anyone else experienced this?

Re: What can a guy do?
It's not your business.
If you can't talk to him yourself we can't do it for you.

Re: What can a guy do?
Yeah, It happens man, Guys and Girls like to play family and it's hard to have "guy time" all of a sudden. You should tell him what you think of it ( the equivalent of letting him read this thread), tell him not to be a pussy, and deal with it

Re: What can a guy do?
YES! In fact I was in a situation that was almost exactly like that. I had a friend back in high school who used to be the coolest guy...he still is, but we used to hang out all the time but then one day he went out with this girl (who happened to be his first) and she completely changed him....well thats not entirely true. He still had the same sense of humor and whatnot but he never hung out and he ended up joining the military and became this huge conservative and it really doesn't seem anything like him given that he was a pretty big stoner back in the day. Maybe he just decided to grow up but still....sucks because I lost a good friend. I still hang out with him once in a while but it will never be like it was before. My advice to you is to try and convince your friend that she isn't right for him. For you it might be easier than it was for me because my friend was actually happy about going out with her, at least he never showed discontent. But from what you described it sounds like he's miserable with her. Don't be too pushy and mean about. Respect the fact that its his girlfriend but let him know that he's really just wasting time and energy on a woman that makes him unhappy. I'm willing to bet the reason why he doesn't want to break up with her because he thinks he'll never find another girl....you gotta convince him otherwise. I don't know how but you have to. Don't let the same thing that happened to me happen to you!

I have talked to him, we talk all the time, he just can't/doesn't want/doesn't know how to do anything.
And it kind of IS my business, because he's my friend and a good guy and he's not happy.

It's not your business. It's his, if you've talked to him, that's all you can do.
Maybe he is happy. Stop thinking you own the world and let people make their own choices, MOM.

Re: What can a guy do?
You can do nothing. Despite this affecting your life negatively, it's none of your business. Most likely you'll just piss off your friend, and lose him completely.
Listen to self-esteem by the offspring.

HAHA i can top that OP you ready. same guy i know is in for round 2 with a girl like this. He went from ugly and paying for it(yes he paid for it you explain where 20,000 goes in 5 years when you have no expenses besides gas for school, and you have a $15 an hour job ::: thank you:: . Here he is again broke up with that girl and is with another girl, so much that i never even see the kid anymore and when i do see him its shortly before hes heading out to be with her. The kid took it hard and was often freaking out, he was desperate trying to hook up with girls off e-dating sites, real fucked up shit. Then i guess he just met some random chick and within a week decided "this is the one" and even tells people that now.
Jealously? Hardly...i always preach concern when its a fellow man struggling...but here he shouldve learned, no disrespect, no respect, no nothing......come again.

In case you didn't get it already, he's NOT happy and I know this because he has explicitly told me, you retard.
I also never asked for advice, just similar experiences. He already knows what I think, and I wouldn't do something even if I could.
Idiots.

Re: What can a guy do?
I've been in a lot of similiar situations.
I have a friend who never really has the best luck with relationships and girls; they always turn out to be crazy.
He recently got out of a "relationship" with this girl that was going on for a long time. The thing is that they really only dated for maybe a couple days in total (this lasted at least over a year, maybe around 2). This girl was a total bitch to him all the fucking time: hypocritical, liar, went off on him for no reason, made him feel like total shit all the time, and he would still tell her he wished it wasn't like that and he really cared about her. It's not that he didn't realize how she was treating him, he's just...odd...and cared about her a lot.
You can't really tell this guy what to do, in ANY situation (even if it's something he would typically do anyways). He gets nervous and feels pressured at almost any sign of expectancy and just freezes up.
His best friend is more of an outgoing kind of person and would always say shit to him about not doing things. He's that person that gets in people's business and inputs his ideas like they're part of the bible, is an asshole and likes it, and always has something to say.
So (ironically) the two together don't work out a lot of times because when the one guy gets nervous or tries to work shit out on his own, the other guy is always on his ass which only makes it worse.
And the first guy has stated many times that people can't tell him what to do and he just wants to handle his shit on his own.
I always try to fight for him cause I understand where he's coming from. I try to explain to everyone to just leave him be because he's not a retard, he just needs to think.
But I'm digressing. Those situations suck. My advice is to not tell him that someone is being a bitch to him; like I said, he's probably not retarded and can figure it out for himself. It's just better to talk to them about what's going on and help them realize for themselves the extent of the situation (and the effects it has on other people) and how to go about handling it; don't preach. Remember that it's really NOT your business, even though it does have an effect on you. And don't assume you know the entire situation, from either sides or both sides, because that's when you'll wind up looking like a total assclown.
