Default Homemade booze problem?

Yesterday I started my own wine with juice concentrate, water, and yeast with the balloon ontop of the jug. It has been 24 hours and the balloon is not inflated at all. I also started a smaller one with just sugar, water, and yeast and that balloon is inflated. What could I have done wrong on the first one?

Are they both in a warm, dark place? How much yeast did you use? Is there any bubbling in the first jug?

What kind of concentrate did you use? If its welchs grape juice you should be good to go, Minutemaid Fruit Punch hasn't worked for me but if you would like ones that work, white grape and raspberry works (pretty good tasting) and so does apple juice concentrate(also pretty good).

I used to make this stuff all the time but got back into it recently. I have some blueberry wine made with real blueberry juice that tastes awesome. Its a fun enough hobby and cheaper than buying most wine. I just wish I had a liter of clear spring right now.

The little one is going to inflate first, because it takes less time for the yeast to colonize and get going. Plus there's less room for gas to build pressure in.

Give it a little more time, if you did them both exactly the same and are storing them in the same conditions, before you label it no good.

Not all juice concentrate contains real sugar these days, add some sugar of your own and see if it makes a difference.

I poured in some more sugar and yeast, it seems to be inflating a bit, but no where near the jug with only sugar and water.
