Default Grow box

I am thinking about making a box to grow plants for my botany class in. My plan so far is to buy a cabinet, build it without the levels, line the inside entirely with aluminum reflective tape. I don't know how well this stuff works but it sounded like a good find when I noticed it at the grocery store. And then I just have a box on the bottom to have the arranged plants in. I figured i would drill four holes out and put desk fans inside them for air circulation, and possibly an air purifier inside. Some of the plants i will be growing are very sensitive to bacteria and i will have the thing in my garage. So i also plan to put seals in all of the cracks. So i thought, i will have two "rod" lightbulbs, the long ones, and have them drilled into the left and right sides of the cabinet. but i was wondering, should i have a light in the top to ensure the plants will grow tall? does light need to be directly above the plant to make it strongest? if anyone knows i would appreciate an answer. I though it seems like a pretty good idea for a grow box...

He's right. They have a dedicated thread for pot growing there.
