Has anyone heard of this fucking awesome five piece death core band from Riverside?
I like them alot, they have such a good drummer too.
Thoughts on them?

Just having a listen to them now, I wouldn't say I am at all impressed. The singer annoys me, I like growls, but not those kinda growls and especially not that high pitched screaming. The drums don't seem to be anything impressive at all and the sound of them is terrible. The guitar parts I can't really make out, the drums seem to be drowing them out, so I can't really tell if the tone is any good.
All in all I can say they're a band I don't think I'll be looking into again.

It's kind of faggy to just use a band name's abbreviation when posting in a music forum. Unless the band's name actually is BMTH. It's sort of an asshole elitist thing to do, like "Oh, you've never heard of a band abbreviated as BMTH, then you don't deserve to hear them"

Either way, suicide silence aren't that good. It seems to me that they try to be as violent and repulsive as death metal bands, but don't exactly cut it. I'm not a huge deathcore fan, but there are a couple of bands I'm into. I saw Whitechapel live, they were good as hell.
And suicide silence's drummer isn't that good.

Can't get into them. Don't like the singer. Those growls are just lame.

Yeah, seems like they are just trying to be as brutal as possible...But I can't help but think how fucking lame it is. Why do people listen to this when there are hundreds of bands doing this style of music so MUCH better.

I like the band, i like the material / recording they had before there cd, it was more grind. There cd, recording wise, sounds like shit, and musically they rip off meshuggah way to much.

i agree with the first two lines. in terms of mixing i can't really notice flaws like that. and i put the last two bands in the same category of generic deathcore that all the kids are listening two nowadays. don't get me wrong, they all have their good songs, but really the only things that stand out are their breakdowns. deathcore is the new big thing right now, and I've seen too many little scene girls with suicide silence shirts and "THE DOCTORS WON'T BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE YOUR FUCKING FACE" as their ringtone. I can at least say BMTH can be appreciated for trying different things, particularly in their new album. I like it when bands try different things, even if they aren't that good.

I'd hate to draw attention away from the topic, but I'd like to hear some reccomendations for some not so generic/trendy deathcore.

And to the OP, its okay to like them. I'm not saying you're a trendy little scene faggot or whatever. They execute the style they go for pretty well, but really don't change it up enough.

for the mixing in common terms, it has WAY too much low end and becomes unclear at times

I got into an argument with someone about this one time. I honestly like the tony danza tapdance extravaganza, see you next tuesday, dr. acula, iwrestledabearonce and other "scene" grindcore bands more than authentic grindcore. I had someone bitch me out that I had a shit taste in music and I didn't know REAL grindcore...which is perfectly okay, because I don't like pure grind, and I prefer bands that are more "pop" grind. Cause I'm a huge pussy I guess....or something. But then again I like pop-punk way more than punk. I can at least say I've given "pure" grind a try instead of being ignorant of its existance.

And regarding the "scene" topic: it is true anything ending in the -core suffix has a scene. I'm so sick of suicide silence, carnifex, as blood runs black and all those other really popular bands. They're not even particularly bad, but when everyone has a fucking t-shirt, it makes me not want to listen. For awhile it was metalcore, deathmetal, emo, hardcore, and its still those emotronica bands that are being churned out right now. It really kills it for me....
