So I'm going to my doctor in a few hours, and I'm gonna try and play the chronic fatigue card to try and get a ritalin or dexamphetmine script.

Does anyone have any experience with this, that could give me some tips on what do say to him? He's a free doctor, and pretty useless really.

I was thinking of saying just the general tired all the time which has interfered with my tertiary studies (Got the fails to prove it, due to laziness) and general lifestyle and I really need SOME sort of meds to help me live a normal life. Whatever he gives me, I say it doesn't work until I get what I want.

Can anyone help me expand on this?

I haven't tried to con a doctor out of meds before, I try to avoid the doctor unless I really need to see them so I am quite unfamiliar with the whole process.

You remind me of this article i read on doctor shopping awhile back. It was written by an ER doctor and it described the things patients would say in order to get prescibed some kind of opiates/oids. One of the things they went in to was some vicodin "addict" (lol) came in saying she had the "worst headache of her life, and on a scale of 1-10, it was a 10." So you know what that doctor did? Fucking CAT scan and MRI. Had to spend thousands of dollars to x-ray her brain to make sure she didn't have any brain damage or hemmorageing(sp?). When they found out there was nothing wrong with her, they kicked that bitch to the curb. While that stupid bitch got bumped to the front of the line at the ER, there were people that were seriousley fucked up/hurt that had to wait longer to get the care they needed.

The moral of the story is, while you go in there complaining of some fraudulent medical condition, you are making people who are more fucked than you are wait longer to get the kind of care they need. Oh, and BTW, just because your doc barely speaks english doesn't mean he doesn't know his shit. He still has a PhD, amirite? He will probably think you are depressed and make you go see a therapist, which in turn takes up that therapists time that he/she could be using to help someone out who is actually FuckedintheHead, know what I'm sayin'?

Yes, I see what you are saying. However, I'm not after anyone's pain meds nor will I be going to a therapist.

However, I have a friend who lives one city away from me (About 600km) who basically talked me through what I should be doing. The OP probably didn't explain my plan or anything very well... This probably doesn't either, but as I said I'm starved for sleep.

Anyway, appointment is in half an hour. I'll be happy if he gives me the medical cert I need so I can flag work for a couple of days.

Also, obviously I won't get dexamps today. Or anything decent. Best case he gives me something shit, I go back in 2 weeks and say it did nothing.

Just go running in the morning, do some muscle failure, and I garuntee you will feel great for the rest of the day. You will sleep like a baby when it comes time for bed, because you are actually TIRED. When you spend all day sitting infront of a computer, you are barely using any energy at all, thus reducing your body's need for sleep.

exercise does help, but I have periodic insomnia thats really bad. Plus I usually only get to sleep 5-6 hours, and I'm a super light sleeper. So light that just buttons being pressed on a remote or video game controller will wake me. I have excellent hearing too. Combined with the fact that in my house dwells two children ages 6 and 3, and a crazy house wench of mother, I never get to sleep. That is unless I spend the night at the girlfriends.

I'm also the kind of guy that once you wake me, I rarely go back to sleep. Even a trip to the bathroom in the middle of the night can keep me up for a few hours. It happens less if I don't turn on any lights. I exercise fairly regularly, usually walking a few miles everyday.

I used to self medicate this with benzo's, but they became a little bit of a problem. The hangover they cause is a problem, plus they affect my memory too much. Ambien is too weird, if I take one, it doesn't really work, if I take 1.5 or 2, and I'm light weight hallucinating, and it ends up making it impossible to sleep when I take them. They also usually give me a weird taste of iron in my mouth when I'm on them, almost like blood.

Opiates though, man they give me the most heavenly sleep I've ever had. They high is so wonderful, especially when the nod comes in waves of increasing intensity, gently rocking you to sleep. Even if I take a low dose, like 20 mg's oxycodone orally, I sleep for at least 8-10 hours of blissful, wakeless sleep. The sleep usually has very vivid and sometimes lucid dreams. I think one of the best parts of the opiate high is the sleep and dreams.

My sleep iis always disturbed if I ever go a night without getting stoned.

Obtaining a prescription under false pretenses is illegal. Not to mention that people who try to get meds they don't need make it a lot harder for those who do need them to get them.
