help - opiate extraction (not CWE)
So this link may be an old read for many of you, but at http://poppyseedtea.com two parents try to explain to the world how harmless making poppy seed tea ISN'T- their son died because of it. Long story short- poppy seed tea is easy to make, is full of tasty opiates, but there is a risk in dosage- you never know from package to package the concentration of the morphine and codeine in the seeds.
Is there any way to test how concentrated the opiates are in your beverage? I'd love to try this but I don't want to end up dead. I mean, think- morphine at your fingertips for a couple dollars and thirty minutes in your kitchen.

Re: help - opiate extraction (not CWE)
well you could try to use this method called BCS to test the potency before you dose. I've only really heard of it from friends of friends and shit its not real common, and you definitely won't find it used much by totse members. It stands for basic common sense. Drink a small amount before you drink a larger amount, dose slowly if its anything like pod tea it lasts like 12 hours it wont wear off in between doses

Re: help - opiate extraction (not CWE)
I think that's a good idea.. on a link off of the poppyseedtea.com website, a scientific evaluation had subjects take a small amount and determined the original concentration by running quality urine tests, but that is probably out of my reach.
BCS is probably the best idea- made more effective by brewing a giant vat o' tea and stirring it all up and gauging after one dose how many mL to ingest on subsequent doses.

Re: help - opiate extraction (not CWE)
yummy. I love me some poppy tea!
For the USA, it's the closest thing to OTC opes we've got. Store-bought, and not bad opes by any means.
Find organic/unwashed seeds with bits of poppy straw in the mix. I get mine for $4 bucks a pound at a very local Amish Bakery/Store. Very potent.
Avoid big-chain stores/brands, way to much money for not many opes.
I started out with 220 grams, funneled into a soda bottle and covered with just enough COLD water and a dash of lemon juice.
Shake vigorousley(sp) for 2 minutes, I shake in crazy manners like I'm churnin' butter, washing machine, the old up and down and all over.
You're basically washing the seeds of their opium residue, the seeds themselves contain little to no opiate. Don't over soak/wash because the seeds will only swell and absorb your water/opes.
Then for the easiest filtering, just unscrew your cap about half way(not enough to come off the threads, but enough to allow water out and not seeds). Squeeze your what should be a strong opaque yellowish-brown colored tea into another glass and either drink or reduce volume, etc....
It's not exactly pleasent to drink, a very strong earthy taste. I reduce mine under low heat to a shot or two and chill it and sweeten with sugar/honey.
As said, the dangers of poppy seed tea are real. The main danger being the varied opiate content in different brands/batches.
also as with anything, start small and titrate. you can't undue an OD.
be safe & enjoy

I was thinking of buying them at the local organic store or organic section at the supermarket. How do you gauge how much to take- do you start small and work your way up every time you make a different batch, or have you discovered a better way?
And what do you mean by titrate (or is that in this context the same as BCS?)- because my only experience with that was in high school biology and chem and I don't know what kind of indicator one would have to use.

Re: help - opiate extraction (not CWE)
Just start low if they're good unwashed seeds and work your way up to find what level you wanna be at.
only reason you see people saying they used pounds per batch is because they either have shitty seeds or a tollerence.
try around 200-250 grams (1/2 pound) your first time out.

Re: help - opiate extraction (not CWE)
To get clean alkaloids out of plant matter (specifically opioids) you'd need to:
Mix dilute HCl (5%) with the plant matter. Mix thoroughly, strain out the plant matter (use a coffee filter, couple of times). Gas the opiate solution with NH3 (mix NaOH and NH4NO3 in solution). This should precip the goods, plus a few others. Filter this stuff and keep it. Dry (no heat, it'll destroy the goods). The potency of this extract should be consistent with its weight, so now you know how much ope's in your dope.
