know anything about bump keys?
if you dont, heres a vid:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...13949300140850
guy shows you how to make a bump key. it supposedly can unlock most locks it can fit into and basically, according to the vid, all you do is take an old key, and file it so that on the "bumpy side", all that is their is what appears to be a line of equal sized right triangle.
the video shows the whole process.
anyway, my question is:
does this really work? if so, does it work well?
and does anybody have anything to add from their own experience? tweaks, etc.?

Re: know anything about bump keys?
It does but you have to file some off the tip of the key and the shoulder on majority of keys. They don't ALWAYS work. It's more luck than anything.

Re: know anything about bump keys?
i didnt make it yet, but ive used files a lot, and i think it would take anywhere from 45min-1hr 1/2
i was actually using a file like 10min ago to "re-furbish" a philips head screw drivers tip. took about 30 seconds-1min

Yes, if made properly, bump keys work.
Although, precision is important, because if not made correctly, bump keys have the tendency to get stuck in the lock.

we all prefer destruction to making a key, but obviously if it works, the key is much safer.

do they work on some car doors that have the keyhole by the handle or is it restricted to just regular door locks?
