First love
Is there anything else like a first love?
I have only been in one serious relationship (over now), but I really don't feel like I could love like i did again. Not because i was hurt, nothing like that, it just seems so unlikely that any other relationship could be like that.
I dont mean to sound like I am still in love with my ex, or that i'm pining to be with her or anything because im not. I mean, we spent so many days just laying there telling each other how in love we are etc.
I am in a relationship now with a girl who really seems to like me. This is her first time ever kissing a boy or anything like that. I am afraid that she might feel 'in love' and I wont. Don't get me wrong, i really like this girl, but I just kind of started wondering if I will ever feel that way.
Does love change after you've fallen in and out of it before? Will it feel at all like it did with my first girl? Has anyone ever been in this situation, if yes, how did it work out? When you fell in love again, did it feel the same?
Sorry if this post is jumbled or incoherent, im really not good at explaining my feelings/anything like that.

Re: First love
it does change every time you fall in and out. solely because you gave it your all and you have learned so much about yourself and another person. and when it comes to another person it is hard to start over because of the fear you have that it might not be the same. and you don't have the same emotions for someone new as you had for the previous person which sucks, because that lingers and stays with you. especially in a new relationship. you can love again, but every time it will be different depending on the person and on attraction, and emotional connection. you cannot expect to share the same emotions with one person as you did another. it just doesn't work like that

Re: First love
Nope, I disagree, it doesn't change.
As much as you change from year to year and relationship to relationship, that feeling of pure love that you get, the feeling that makes you feel like a stupid schoolboy falling head over heels for a girl, that's the same feeling you'll always feel, and you can't change it.
You'll always feel just as helpless and stupid and "in love", and sometimes your feelings will be reciprocated for a while and you'll feel better, or other times you'll get crushed.
But you'll always feel like THIS, no matter how experienced you are.

Re: First love
As anastaciadarling put it, it depends on the circumstances surrounding the new relationship. Sure, you might have lingering feelings from your past relationship, but those are forgotten as you dive deeper into your new relationship. That head-over-heels-pure-love-joy feeling will be felt again... just keep yourself open.

Re: First love
Expirience does wonders, but the number 1 one thing to remember is that love always changes things in people.

Re: First love
You're probably not feeling that way because you're not in love. Yet. Let it grow, give it a chance, and you just might find yourself falling head over heels for this girl.

I agree completely.
Thanks for the good replies guys! Again, I didnt post this because i want my ex back or anything, I was just curious to see if 'love' would be so blatantly easy to see and feel again, or if what i felt was just a 'first love' sort of thing.
Also: this is unrelated, but thought i'd share my thoughts anyways.
Doesnt it suck when you're used to doing certain things with a person, even habitually, then a new girl comes along who doesn't really get it at all.
for example: I was so comfortable just smacking my ex's bum or grabbing her boobs (at the appropriate times of course), but with this new girl i feel like i have to monitor myself for things like this, because she is not comfortable with stuff like this (first boyfriend, etc...). I know this will change eventually, and ALL relationships start like this, but man - its almost tempting to go back with my ex JUST BECAUSE i'm so comfortable around her. (of course i know THAT is crazy :P)
Maybe that's why im wondering about this 'first love' thing...hmmm...
ahh im so confused :P

Re: First love
The fact that you've mentioned NOT wanting to go back to your ex twice despite noone else bringing it up makes me think you might still have a *small* thing for her.
When did you guys break up?
And yes, that whole ritual thing sucks alot.

I do this to my girlfriend all the time. Except, what the fuck do you mean doing it at appropriate times? I grab my girlfriends ass infront of people who get offended/uncomfortable by it. It just makes it more fun.
You fucking conformist
