Yeah, Weezer kinda sucks, but its the point he's getting at in the song.
I was talking with my gf and as usual we disagreed on something. She basically wants me to look really good, especially when she's not around. She says "make the other girls jealous" and such, which I kind of understand.
So when we're apart, she always looks really good (I know either from seeing pictures of her when she's away or if we webchat each other). She dresses up really nicely and puts sexy makeup on. I guess she just wants to look good...
But I'd rather she look nasty most of the time when she's away, and then get really sexy for me. Kind of like, she only wants to look good for me.
And I act on this too if left alone. When she's not around, I don't really shave, I'll go a couple days without a shower, I wear my rattiest clothes, I basically won't give a crap about how I look. But when she comes back, I put on the nice clothes and look my best.
So what do you think? Is this a girl/guy thing or just a personal thing? And which would you prefer?

It's possessive to a disgusting degree. Considering that it came from Weezer, it's probably mocking guys that think this way. There should be a lot more to a woman than you or your relationship. Things would get pretty boring if there wasn't more to her than just you.
She dresses and wears makeup and all that as a choice; whereas you switch back and forth. Why switch at all? If you like dressing ratty, then dress ratty. If you like being presentable, then be presentable. It sounds like you're putting on a front when she's around.

Well, I know the "laugh for no one else" is insanely possessive, but I just meant the whole clothes thing. And I never said that there shouldn't be anything more to her than me, still just the clothes thing.
You might be missing my point...The point of the clothes thing is that its about effort and intention. If she just got pretty because she liked to look pretty and no other reason, I wouldn't care. But she doesn't. If she's sitting around the house all day its sweats and a tshirt. But its the idea that she thinks I would want her to look pretty so that other guys would be jealous, and likewise she wants me to look good when she's not around so that "girls will be jealous".
Like I said, I guess I see her reasoning, its just kind of weird. |
