Emerge

I'm using gentoo and just got it fully installed on my comp but now I cant use emerge. I tied booting from the CD and tried to emerge different things but I get the same error every time:

Fetch failed for:app-misc/screen
!!! Can't process invalid log file: marge.ERROR

If I try and sync it gives this error

Temporary failure in name resolution

Looks like you don't have internet, skipper!

Check that you can ping IP addresses, and check if you can ping DNS names (as in 4.2.2.1, and then google.com). If you can ping 4.2.2.1 but not google, you need to put a valid nameserver in your resolv.conf file. If you can't ping either, you need to get connected to the net.

Both of those errors are in response to network activity (unable to fetch, unable to resolve DNS addr).

208.67.220.220 is one for OpenDNS.

Usually your ISP provides one. You could also use 4.2.2.1.
