Advice about a girl (kinda long)
I need advice.
There's this girl who I met about 6 months ago, and I need to figure out what to do next. Pretty much since we met, we instantly became best friends and since then I've been seeing her all the time. I've never met anyone else who I could relate to so well. She's just...fantastic. I love just about everything about her and she's one of the very few girls that I've met who actually shows a genuine interest at me and likes my sense of humor.
Now I have a dilemma.
I had my eye on this girl even before I first talked to her, and since then I've always wanted to ask her to be my girlfriend. But this time, I waited. My last relationship was a heartbreaking disaster, and this time I wanted to sort of get to know her first before deciding that she's the right one for me. Well lots of time has passed because, well, she's really become a very good friend to me. So much that I'm afraid that if I were to try to go out with her, it would change everything about our relationship and that I might lose that friendship that I hold dearly. I'm afraid that something may happen someday that would cause us to break up and I'd never see her again. I can't imagine never seeing her again.
Second of all, I didn't really discover this until very recently, but let's just say that she got this job that's very career oriented, and it's going to eat up pretty much all of the time that I would usually spend hanging out with her. I won't go into detail as to what she's going into, just in case she somehow finds this. Anyway, it means that I'll hardly ever see her, which is a downer because not only do I really like her but my other best friends have also moved away recently and she's pretty much the last best friend I have before I'm just alone. The thing is that I don't want to have a relationship where I'll never see her, but at the same time I really love her at this point and I'd like to make love to her. But I don't know if it would be worth it to get into a relationship and then be just as lonely as I would be had I not asked her out.
In short, it's all a question about whether it's worth the risk that I finally tell her how I feel. And what's the likeliness that she'll actually say no? Is it possible that she'll reject me since it's weird because I've been her friend for a while?

The question is, are you a dick or a pussy?

I'm in sort of a similar situation. Except I know she's probably not interested in me. It sucks but you're over complicating this. Just drop subtle hints to see if she likes you or not, see how she reacts -go from there.

Re: Advice about a girl (kinda long)
Any time two people of the opposite sex call themselves "best friends", they're attracted to eachother and want to have a relationship. No exceptions.* You should just man the fuck up and tell her before it's too late.
*Unless of course, both friends are already in separate relationships, like me and my best friend.

If shes showing interest, then harden the fuck up, grow some balls and ask her.
About the whole "is it worth it" thing...u spending time with her now, right? well, use that time as relationship time...duhhhh...
and besides, if she really likes you, i'm sure she'll make some time ;)

Re: Advice about a girl (kinda long)
Fair enough. I'm going to go for it and see what happens. Hell, my life may just as well become tremendously shitty if I don't ask her out. It's halfway through the shitter anyway. I'll report back to this thread if anything happens. Thanks guys.

Re: Advice about a girl (kinda long)
Make it clear before you get into it with her that you value your friendship and that if things don't work out for some obscure reason, you want to keep being friends. That means that you'll really have to watch yourself in the relationship so that things don't end up shitty. If it lasts a couple months and it turns out that things are awkward and/or unsatisfying, mutally call it quits and go back to being friends.

Re: Advice about a girl (kinda long)
Okay, basically...
Your relationship, if strong enough, should not change drastically if a sexual / 'going out' nature were put in place. Realistically, if you are close enough, things should only get better from there on out. I was in a similar situation and I chose to ask her out and am now married happily (to that girl, of course). But if your time is going to be severely constrained, ask her to move in. I know it sounds kind of rush-rush, but if you could come home to her every night... would it be THAT bad? ;)
