My Boyfriend's Father
Mike is a great man. How can he not be? He raised Ty and I love Ty completely. But sometimes Mike is a terrible man.
Mike has high stress and high blood pressure. He'll freak out at every little thing. Once Ty offered to make supper for the family and Mike spent 30 mins critisizing everything he did, saying it wasn't cooked properly, or wrong. Ty is going to school to be a CHEF. Making fun of his cooking is the ultimate insult. He can make a fuckin stirfry thank you. But Mike just made him feel so horrible. I can't believe Ty finished making supper. The next day Mike told Ty to start getting supper ready and I outright refused that Ty do anything. He was hurt so badly by his father.
Mike and I have run ins too. I try very hard to make him laugh and lift his spirits. Yesterday he asked someone to put the kettle on for him. I did right away and he grabbed it when it whistled. I said coyly, "What makes you think that's for you?". I understand this could have be misunderstood but I said it in such an obvious joking tone. When he started to stutter and put it back I laughed and said it was indeed for him. Then he started yelling saying he felt he was being attacked. Just a little joke will set him off.
A couple months ago Mike's wife was feeling overworked and down so I went and bought the family groceries and some nice perfum and flowers for her. When Mike got home he was outraged that no thought of him. Maybe he felt neglected but I did something nice for his WIFE. He could have just not made a scene and been happy we made her smile.
Now yesterday I had my nephew over. He is very important to me. Last year I quit school and spent 8 months raising him. He's like my son. I hardly ever get to see him and was excited. He's nearly 3. At supper, which I made, Mike started yelling at his daughter like hardcore, and cursing. Then they brought out the pot infront of my nephew. I'm okay with pot, Ty does it, but not around a child. I was so upset I started to cry and grabbed the baby and took him away. Their fightng made ME uncomfortable, it must have been so scary
for such a little guy. That wasn't even the worst part. I put the baby to bed and heaven forbid the dishwasher wouldn't close. Mike started slamming it and yelling. Ty told him to shut up, there was a baby sleeping downstairs, but Mike only yelled louder. How does he get off acting like that? My nephew means the world to me, and I'm sad I can't see him all the time. But I decided not to bring him over again. It's a bad environment.
Now I know I've written many examples of what makes Mike terrible. These things have just been circulating my mind for awhile. But he is a good man too. When he's happy he's really happy. He laughs and plays and loves his children more than his own life. He's been extremely stressed for money and work lately and I think that is what causes the outbursts. I dunno. I just needed to get this off my chest so I don't bring it up with him.
TL/DR - My boyfriend's father is prone to explosive and angry outbursts. It disrupts my, my boyfriend's, and sometime those I love's happiness, Mostly just ranting. Not really expecting any response.

Do you and your boyfriend live with his parents? That's bound to be a terrible environment for everyone, you and your boy really should find your own place.

You'd better watch it. You know how the apple never falls far from the tree, right?
I don't know that there's much you can do. Get all biblical on his ass and turn the other cheek, unless he's the kind of guy who will trample you if you show any sign of weakness, in which case I would keep both cheeks well out of his way. Sounds like an unbalanced dude.

Re: My Boyfriend's Father
They make pills for that. If he already takes them, may I suggest an accidental overdose?

Re: My Boyfriend's Father
This dirtbag is bipolar. Record him during one of his tirades, and then deliver it to him a week later. Ask him if he feels his childish behavior is acceptable. We all have to show respect for the people in our lives. This man acts like a kid. One day he will die alone. Sad and empty.

Edit: ^^^^ This works also....don't put it on the internet lol.
Solution? Tell Mike to smoke some weed and chill the fuck out.

Mike smokes alot of weed.
And Ty and I did have our own apartment but it was an hr away. Ty wanted to move home for free rent while he goes to school and I had no choice but to move with him. I'm exploring my options of getting my own apt now.

...If u don't get u and your bf out of there soon.
The saying "Like Father, Like Son" might give you something to think about. I have picked up ALOT of my Dad's bad habits, the funny part is I hate both him and me for it. Do your bf and yourself a favor, and GTFO of there.

Re: My Boyfriend's Father
It's what you get for being a little bitch. If you made that little cunt joke at me, I'd be pissed too. You're staying in his place? Of course he's gonna walk around with a dick up his ass. I wouldn't want the lot of you at my house either.

It makes sense. Only a horrible father would name their kid Ty anyway.

Re: My Boyfriend's Father
...White trash?
Move out of your trailer and get your own house. If Ty's cooking is good then he should be making money on it.
Seriously.
You've living with your boyfriend's parents. You should be acting like a guest. Guests should be as invisible as possible when they're taking advantage of someone else's hospitality.
If this is, in fact, your own home then kick them the fuck out.
I believe my former assumption if correct, though.
