Default Prozac Experiences?

Alright, so on Wednesday my doctor finally decided to put me on an anti-depressant, Prozac to be specific, and so basically I was wondering if some of you guys have any experience with this drug? And no, I am NOT asking, "Hey d00dzo0Oo00rzzz!! Can you get fuxxor3d fur r34lz off t3h pr0z4c??!!!111oneoneone".

So yea, basically, wanting to know if anyone here has been put on prozac, and how that went, and also whether or not it helped. Thanks in advance.

I have nothing but good things to say about this specific serotonin reuptake inhibitor. For me it did it's job, and it did it well :)
I remember being able to become optimistic about aspects of my life that i'd been viewing far too long as hindrances, and my previously shot level of self confidence- that so oftenly led to excessive social anxiety- actually fully returned to what it had used to be before my depression. Happy days with my re-acquainted old buddies ensued, and they still do to this day- i came off prozac a few years ago, too.
Fuck the people who state teh various bullshits such as "omg u change if u go on ssriz they fuck u upp" etc. Prozac healed my disease. And for those who are lucky enough as to never experience this god-awful disability, bear in mind that depression is serious fucking business IRL.

Wow, that's really cool man. I'm glad that my doctor's going to be putting me on something that might ACTUALLY help. I was on Bupropion before (yea, I know, it's a dopamine re-uptake inhibitor, not an ssri), and it helped me a lot, but it made it insanely hard for me to sleep, like 2-3 hours a night, but it was good other then that.

EDIT: And also, I wanted to know if it's helped you (anyone) with eating. As in, did it make you more hungry? Because at this point, I'm having a really hard time eating.

it did nothing until i got on the right dosage though, so if its not working at first, wait til you get up to a level that works for you. but basically i was really fucking depressed, and when it finally started working it was crazy how much better i felt. i know it sounds melodramatic, but it probably saved my life.

its not something i would want to be on for the rest of my life because while it prevented me from feeling bad, i didnt feel really good. kinda numb to either extreme. but because i had been so low before it really made a difference. good luck with it though

and about eating, yeah it made me eat much better than when i had been depressed.

Its not nice, it has nasty side affects, it doesnt really work if anything it makes you feel worse and when you do feel good it just feels unatural. Then there is the decreaced appetite, difficulty sleeping and I found for the first few weeks it made me randomly gurn quite a bit and clench my teeth quite a lot. Also fucks your sex drive up big time and when you can be bothered try to knock one out or have sex it just goes on and on and on (not in a good way) and when you finally do get off its a total anticlimax cause it just feels crap.

I've been on it for about a month now, 40mg dose daily, and don't notice any significant changes except for the fact I'm constipated more often. So..........yeah.

Well that sucks. Oh, well, I can only hope that it's going to work for me, and if this doesn't work, then I'm gonna have to try some other anti-depressants, yayRoll Eyes (Sarcastic)(pfft...). Oh well.

Yeah if prozac doesnt work you should try either Wellbutrin or Lexapro there both pretty good, and wellbutrin is somewhat recreational.

Paxil ftw....No loss of sex drive really...although It takes a lot longer to orgasm...which is fine. I'm much more patient than i ever used to be. No more snapping on people for looking at me the wrong way or anything like that. I'm also finally able to sleep. I've never known anyone who's taken Prozac...Everyone I know is on Zoloft or Lexapro...I've heard good things about both.

Yea, I was already on wellbutrin(bupropion) and that helped a lot after a while, but I eventually had a seizure so I had to stop taking it. Also my counselor was saying that he thinks that Lexapro is really good as well, but I'm going to see a psychiatrist a few times so he can give a second opinion on my doctor's choice. I'm pretty sure if the Prozac doesn't work then my doctor or psychiatrist will try me on Lexapro or Paxil.

I fucking love wellbutrin. I have a huge increase in sex drive.
Unlimited energy. Went from having a beer gut to a six pack.

Only problems is that i sweat ALOT and can't sleep till about 1.
