Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more!

Problem is, The middle east has too much of a stereo type. Having Dubai (as it is one of the most architectural and infrastructural advanced cities in the world) it would just confuse most americans who would be expecting an Assasins Creed-esque environment.

Venice would be cool. GTA Amsterdam would be the shit... only if they make it with Vice City's soul but.

those are all obviously jokes. I could see London (either in the 60's like in that old GTA game, or present day... or both). Tokyo would absolutely fucking own (especially with today's possibilities... and tomorrows too for that matter). My only other pick (and highly doubtful) would be Moscow.

Yeah, it's so obviously bullshit. I mean, it's dated just shortly after GTAIV's initial release.

as NerdFangs said, if GTAV is anything like GTAIV, I won't be buying either. sure, it was sort-of breath taking, at first. sort-of. but it lacked what it should have been most. what all GTA's prior to it were all over: "Fun". GTAIV just wasn't fun. at all. and people say the Wii is "Novelty". shit...GTAIV is the true "fading novelty". the excitement of being able to drive around a full scale, living (Though barely breathing) city just isn't as fun of a thing as it was five years ago. especially if there isn't anything to do in it! well, besides...oh yeah, steal cars and shoot innocent bystanders for the seventh or eight title thus far. not to say, the money you make has virtually no value to it at all. I'm not rising to the top of organized crime for new clothes, you fuckers.

The reason is that Japan isn't really that big a country. They managed to put in three different cities and a large coutryside in between on GTA:SA, so making a few islands and expansive cities should be no problem, especially looking at how well they did with GTA:SA and that they will be using the much larger capacity of Blu-Ray as opposed to DVD.

Uh.. ..will they? They're doing the same versions for 360 as for PS3, so I guess that'd be confirmation that 360 will have Blu-ray. Or does it mean multiple disks (one for each island. You've always had to do the switch over times for each island anyway..)? I'd welcome it's release on blu-ray only*, as a sign that it's jam packed with content, and hopefully it'd be well polished content too, not just heaps of utter crap.

Japan is one of the very last places I would expect to see in a GTA title. It has everything going against it. Not only does it not have any of the elements that make a world of GTA, but it is very far from even coming close to it. I'm not being pessimistic or trying to dismiss your hopes either, partner. I just can't see it working, I won't sidetrack this thread with my reasoning unless you start the debate.

*Or multi-disk too if xbox doesn't adapt to Blu-ray by then. Multiple disks would work fine for a game like this, and would be much cheaper than buying a new Bluray capable xbox or accessory blu-ray drive, so no doubt Microsoft will want Rockstar to make it Blu-ray exclusive in order to rape 360 players.

As someone else said, the gameplay should be their main focus. If they did a better job with GTA4's gameplay, then I wouldn't even care about GTA5 at this point.

Basically...they need to reinject all of the gameplay elements from SA into 5, and then add some to make up for lost time. Mad

Location? I think it'd be fun to go to Europe. Paris would be something new (ie. they did London in The Getaway) for this type of game, and it would be a beautiful place to for GTA-style mayhem. It's even got projects, thugs, and guns too, so it wouldn't just be going on shooting sprees on the Champs-Elysees. They could have a country region, as well as a seaside region (ie. Marseilles). That would be pretty fucking cool actually.

Oh, and I have to say: Venice is a retarded idea for any game. It's not even a fun place to be...just tourists and old people, and if you go on the mainland, it's basically just a dirty, boring town. Milan and Rome would be much better choices (and again, they could have a country-side region as well)

IIRC, Street gangs are any organised crime bigger than littering is pretty much non existant in Japan, thanks to their two govenments which run the place - the Japanese Federal Government, and the Yakuza. So the answer, really, on that subject, is no. They don't, and definitely not in the way we're used to seeing in GTA titles.

Forming a gang from scratch against all odds? Sounds like you just wrote the possibly storyline.

The biggest issue that needs addressing in GTA is money. With the exception of buying property in previous versions, there's shit all you can do with that 100million sat at the top right of the screen.
Being skint while trying to kit yourself out to defend yourself from feds/kuza sounds pretty fun/intense.

If they were to do London (Which i want them to) Then they would have to do it really well, deffinately blu-ray or multidisc, I wouldn't really mind if they made it so you rarely crossed into the other disc, And then when you did, you pretty much stayed there. Or even a third. I dunno, but would love a third disc.

The characters would have to be decent looking english gangsters, with spot on london accents, a few northern accents thrown in for good measure and they should incorporate some kind of football hooliganism into it as an activity or something, would be fucking funny.

Think you should get guns later, Cause you just end up killing absolutely everything, Start out really small and end up as the biggest G.

The map they could do like london and outer london, That would be sweet, With a half decent city center, 3 or 4 airports. Etc etc, Basically what london has ^^.

They should give it a really grimey gritty look aswell, this would fly off the shelves.

I've yet to think about other locations...

Would be cool if they did a GTA set in the 60's/70's, with awesome music, cool cars and a flipped-out storyline. The bay-area (not just SF) would be a cool setting for this, seeing as it would provide the correct city/countryside if done right.

Just my 2 cents.

That actually would be pretty cool. As I recall, there was an expansion pack or something for the original GTA games that took place in the past (or maybe it was London, or both).

It would have to be recent enough that there was still cool technology, but it would definitely be a cool change.

Default Re: GTA V Finalist announced

I've said this for ages now: GTA EUROPE!!!

San Andreas had 3 cities, so I'm sure it'd be possible to throw major 5 cities into it with a few little villages to represent other nations.

Think how well Rockstar could create/stereotype:

London
Amsterdam
Paris/Monaco
Venice/Berlin/Some really fucked up Eastern European city
Moscow

Start off as a football hooligan in London, and rise to a gangster akin to someone in Lock Stock or Snatch, then maybe get involved in a bit of drug trafficking between London and Amsterdam, and get involved in missions with red light district, etc.

As you start getting more money, you'd be able to head off to Paris or Monaco and do really high level organised crime. Maybe robbing the Louvre? A mission which involves assasinating someone and parachuting off the Eifel Tower like in A View To A Kill? Or in Monaco maybe a Casino related event, or trying to fuck up a Formula 1 team as they compete in the Monaco Grand Prix.

The next step could be Moscow, when you're really on top of the game. You could own a billionaire's mansion, battle it out with Russian mafia, terrorirse oil pipelines, steal a nuclear weapon, or maybe as a grande finale you have to invade the KGB/FSV headquarters to steal some valuable information for the British secret service in exchange for your freedom.

Apart from these cities there could be a little ski-ing resort mountain to represent Switzerland, some random traditional European style villages , a beach area for Spain. The possibilities are fucking endless, and you know Rockstar could absolutely nail the stereotypes. Think how well they'd recreate Russia: it's be fucking genius.
