Default What's with Borders' Alarms?

Do the books that haven't been purchased actually make them go off?

The reason I'm asking is because I just bought something for twenty bucks, and I'm rather short on money atm. Since I can't do the return thing, I was thinking of just having the receipt on me, going in, picking up the same book, and walking out holding the book proud and in sight. Then return the original.

With Borders, just look between the pages and covers for, and remove any stickers you may find.

Once this step is completed, feel free to walk out the door.

I have never noticed anything like that on any book.

And the time problem is no problem. I'll just say I was thinking of returning this book and getting something else, but I couldn't find it.
