Oxy Withdrawal
A little over a year ago I was in a really bad car accident. I have been taking oxycontin in various doses for all of the past year and a half. I feel as though I'm becoming quite addicted to them and as a result wish to stop. I have tapered myself down to 20mg once a day and tomorrow will start not taking any. I have done this once before, but I didn't taper and ran out, which resulted in a HORRIBLE withdrawal. Now I know that the withdrawal that I'm about to experience isn't going to be pleasant. But is there any way to make it more tolerable? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Oxy Withdrawal
i am with you man, i have been an opiate addict for about a year and withdrawls fucking suck balls. my advice is
a) be strong, keep yourself busy and ignore it (the hardest and shittiest route)
b) get your hands on some weaker opiates and don't take recreational doses, take enough to "get off ill" (what we call keeping withdrawls at bay). only take it when the onset of withdrawls begins, eventually following this you will ween completely off without even trying
c) get imodium a-d, sold at any walgreens/schnucks. never taken it myself but i know plenty of people who have taken 12mg or so at a time of it and said it completed counteracted withdrawls, the cold sweats, the chills, the horrible insomnia, the works.
d) in combination with any of the following make sure you are eating good, getting lots of fruits and vegetables in your system and drink lots of green tea. your body is obviously unhealthy when in withdrawls so any healthy habits you can pick up can only help
e) light use of other drugs, smoking weed, taking small doses of benzos (xanax, kpins, valium etc). if i am withdrawling it is impossible for me to get a wink of sleep with the cold sweats and horrifying insomnia and all but i found a 6 pack of beer will alleviate that.
most important part is just passing the time, a second is an hour when you are sitting on the couch watching tv suffering
oh yeah and take hot showers they help out a lot with the cold sweating/soreness etc
hope i helped.
