Alienware Laptop! Please help me decide.
I have been saving up for a few years now for a new computer, I completely lack the ability to "build" my own computer and am looking into some "high-end" gaming machines. I have been told almost unanimously by my friends and colleagues that Alienware is the way to go. I am looking for a laptop around the 1,800-2,300$ price range. I am looking for the laptop to preform basic mp3 playing processes, word processing, etc. I do request that the computer run windows. I would like the computer to be basically geared towards gaming, games such as Spore, CoD 5, World Of Warcraft: WotLK, and new FPS games. I want the computer to look the part, to be attractive and not look like some POS. (AlienFX much?)
Alienware to me seems to meet much of this criteria. Yet, I am puzzled on what model to purchase. This is why I have come to ask you for help. If you were me, what model would you purchase, and what customizations would you add to it? If you believe you know of a different company, etc, that would better cater to my needs then feel free to throw in that companies name!
Thank you so so much!

Yah, I suppose I am. They seem to have a very successful marketing campaign. Yet, I really am just looking for a good laptop to run video games on the go, I am not at all committed to one brand.

Re: Alienware Laptop! Please help me decide.
Why do you want to play games on the go? I mean if you are "on the go" it implies your doing something real. Besides most gaming laptops have shit battery life so you won't be playing long anyway. Plus for what yo get, compared to a PC they are very expensive, getting an Alienware makes this problem even worse. You should really think about whether you really care that much about portability as you would probably be able to get a desktop just as good for half the money.
PS
WOW sucks but people who want to play it on the go suck harder.

Alienware is shit, even more so since Dell bought them. You are paying for a name. Sager.

Just make 1....it isnt hard. Plug a few wires in and boot it up. Otherwise pay someone $100 for 2 hours of their time to do it....

Alienware is the most overpriced piece of shit hardware since Apple computers.
Go find someone that builds computers in your area. You'll save a lot of money.
If you're dead set on buying from a company then I'd go with a Dell XPS.... I really hate Dell but XPS is okay

Yeah, I think Sager laptops are better than Alienwares.
Why not just buy a fast desktop PC and a normal non-gaming laptop? Laptops generally are slower, cost higher and the battery life is short for the gaming laptops.

QFT
to be honest i myself have an alienware desktop, aurora 7400 i believe. I got it before i knew a sufficient amount to build my own. My advice to you is to get a desktop if your serious about gaming. Like people have previously said laptops normally have shit battery if you really want to use them to their full potential. A lot of people who are going into college, i don't know if this applies to you or not, but they say "o i'm going to get a big laptop that i can take around to classes and do everything" but nearly everyone just leaves it in their room. So again if i were you i would just print out some directions to build your own desktop, or if your that dumb get someone to help you. Then get a simple laptop that just has a word processor and a browser and you'll be all set
