better substrate?
so for growing fungus ive read to use vermiculite. ive heard about birdseed and also shit. does anyone know what they grow out of best? i need the most nutrients per area, ya mean?

I don't think there is a better substrate for colonization. The decision depends on what kind of birthing process you will use and personal preference.

You're gonna need to provide a lot more info than that.
What are you trying to do, exactly?
What is your setup?
Go dig up the pf tek on shroomery and get it down before you try a bulk grow.
Btw verm is definitely not a substrate. It contains no nutrients, and is only used as part of the sub mix in the pf tek. Other than that it is used as part of a casing layer.
