Weight Lifting question
hey i use my bench press every second day...
i used to lift 40kg and i would do 15 sets with 10 reps in each set...
however when i could constantly do 10 reps each set without dropping it, i added another 7kg
now, when i lift 47kg i still do 15 sets however my reps are never constantly 10, they start at 10 but by the 15th rep i can only do 3 or 4...
tldr:my question is: is doing less reps but more weights better then more reps but less weights
also how often should i increase weight?

Re: Weight Lifting question
You want to be doing it once a week. On the other days work other muscles except for one rest day. And you want to be doing;
12 Reps
10 Reps
8 Reps
8 Reps
The increase is up to you really depending on what you can handle. This should be able to get you maximum gains. Providing you eat properly aswell, take in alot of protein.

Re: Weight Lifting question
Don't add 7kg. That's quite a lot even for a deadlift or a squat.
Add 5kg if you feel like you can do it, but generally stick to around 2.5kg per session. Or whatever is the least you can add.
Better to add less and be able to still do it, than add more and fail.

Re: Weight Lifting question
Honestly, I wouldn't be benching every second day. I 'd probably do twice a week at the most. And 7 kilos is too much to be adding at once. Most people usually go up in 5 lb increments.
As for the sets, if you're going for strength or size, you might wanna lower the number of reps to like 5-8 in a set. If high reps is working for you, then by all means, stick with it.

That isn't going to work for anybody.

Re: Weight Lifting question
IMO your routine should look something like this:
Monday: bench and curl
Tuesday: bench and curl
Wednesday: bench and curl
Thursday: bench and curl
Friday: bench and curl
Saturday: bench and curl
Sunday: off
But seriously, you need 48hrs to rest. If you're getting that, then you probably aren't going to experience overtraining.
15 sets though? That's what most people would do in an entire workout, spanning multiple excercises. Bring it down to something more like 5 (with warm-up sets too). 10 reps isn't that bad. Just make sure that you get to failure.
Also, pics of tat.

Re: Weight Lifting question
a lot of people are saying to lower my reps/sets....
i am looking to gain muscle and isnt do more weights the best way to gain muscle?
is there any downside to over training?
i dont know what a split is but here is my routine over 1week
Monday: Bench and Curl 15sets of 10reps
Tuesday: Leg weights 15sets of 10reps
Wednesday: Bench and Curl " " "
Thursday: Leg weights " " "
Friday: I got things to do so no weights
Saturday: Bench and Curl " " "
Sunday: Leg weights " " "
and then it repeats
before every session i have half a tsp of creating and afterwards i have another half a tsp of creatine mixed with 60grams of whey protein....that night before bed i have another 60grams of protein with no creatine.....i do this on bench days but no leg days as i dont want to waste it...
I am totally new when it comes to weights and i have been doing them for only a few months...can anyone tell me thebest way to gain muscle?
