Well, my neighbor brought me a lot of catnip for my cats yesterday. I was in my room drinking beer, I wasn't looking to get high or anything, as I had plenty of beer anyways, but no weed. I was staring at this large bag of catnip and I remembered reading a while back that catnip could give you a mild weed high. I was always very skeptical about this and thought it was just like the banana peels, peanut skins, etc. I wasn't desperate to get high, as like I stated I had plenty of alcohol, but I was just curious. I did some quick searches on erowid and other sites and found mixed reports, some saying it got you high and some saying it did nothing at all. I decided to roll a joint and try it out for myself, and the whole time I wasn't expecting anything out of it at all except maybe a bad taste and some nausea. The taste actually wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, very similar to the taste of some low grade weed actually, and the high was very similar to low grade weed. It could have been placebo, I dunno, I drank maybe 4 beers before smoking, but my brother smoked some too without drinking and experienced the same thing so I don't think it was placebo. We smoked 2 joints of the stuff btw. It wasn't all that great, but I think it did get us a little high, similar to shitty weed and a low dxm trip combined, I'd say. Can anyone here confirm if this shit can actually get a human high or has tried it?

Everything I see on other forums people say they make a tea with it to calm muscles or a topical for swelling. A few people claimed mild hallucinogenic effects, but who knows. I can't find any sources about it's chemical makeup.

I've found that usually when there's a chance of placebo..it's placebo.

I'm about to smoke a little more, I'll let you know how it goes. I plan to mix a little with some mid weed to give it a smell like weed, then sell some to some kids around here if it has any effect at all. I can't find anything that proves or disproves it getting you high anywhere on the internet. I mean it look almost just like weed, and smells almost like shitty weed, but I figure if I mix a little bit of real weed with it, I could sell this like crazy, because there's a weed shortage around my area, but I don't really want to rip people off because I'm not like that, I at least want them to get a little buzz or whatever.

"Celestial Seasonings" uses catnip in chamomile tea, and "Yogi Tea" also uses catnip in kava tea. I've never heard of someone smoking catnip, but I know if given to a cat, it can sometimes give them a euphoric effect, but ONLY if they have the gene that allows them to do so. I do believe that catnip can have a sedative effect, but not enough to be worth using all the time. You should also note that unless you are by 100% pure catnip, chances are you are buying catnip for pets, which is usually contaminated by other plant products.

Edit: According to drugdigest.org catnip contains "nepetalactone" which produces a sedative effect for humans.

The only place I saw that said catnip has no effect on humans was yahoo answers, and that just isn't very reliable. I have taken catnip orally in tea, they must have put it in there for some reason, and it wasn't so my cat could get high.

Yea, I'm pretty drunk tonight as well, but my bro smoked just as me and he was pretty much sober and says he's feeling about like how I am. I believe this shit might actually have some potential as a money maker at least. I for sure feel a lot different, my bro says he does too, so I think this herb has some sort of effect on humans.

Have you ever tasted catnip before? Not exactly the tastiest "spice" out there.

One time when I was on the beginning ages of my recreational smoking, I decided to take catnip to its edge, and either it would get me fucked up or I wasn't going to fuck with it at all. I took a long strip of brown lunch bag paper, similar in shape to a blunt, not that I even knew what a blunt was at the time. I twisted the paper up into a cone shape and then packed as much catnip into it as possible. I went and sat in this smoke spot that was a storm drain, and smoked the entire thing to myself over the course of about a half hour.

What happened after this can only be described as time constantly changing perception from going slower to going faster, a multitude of small hallucinations,( fuzzyness in vision, small patterns of clear streaks.) It was a very strange feeling, and my indicate some type of recreational drug in catnip that is in very small concentrations, but if concentrated could be very potent indeed.

The thing is I don't want to completely rip people off, that's why I've been asking for a legit source that states if it can produce any effects similar to weed. I want the kids I sell it to, to at least get a little buzz, which I'm sure green tea wouldn't do. The stuff I have looks very similar to shake, and if I add a tiny bit of real weed shake, to give it a weed smell, I doubt, they'd know the difference. As far as trying it sober, I think I'm done with it now, I'd rather smoke some good weed, but I might possibly try it once more in the future sober, but not anytime soon.

That's very similar to the way me and my brother felt, but to a lesser extent I guess. Very similar feeling to a low dxm plateu and dirt weed high together or something.
