Relocate would be the correct term. They're not allowed to be within 250 meters walking distance from schools. And if I'm not mistaken that should go in effect somewhere in 2009. Not that that will change anything. Coffeeshops aren't the reason you can find the best weed in Holland. It just has a very powerful drug culture, and very powerful grower scene. And for fuck's sake, stop saying Amsterdam. Amsterdam has probably the shittiest coffeeshops to buy weed simply because idiot American tourist think it's like THE place to be.

Rotterdam, while being a crime riddled cesspool, has probably the biggest concentration of good quality, cheap drugs of every kind. Perhaps being the world's largest port is somehow related...

If you're a tourist visiting Holland for the first time, I suggest going to a small town that's not close to any of the country's borders. Maybe then you won't be ripped off/sold shitty drugs/mugged. The reason why you shouldn't visit any border towns is because a lot of tourists from Belgium and German, but mostly France come there to buy their shit, often heroin. And where there are drug tourists, there will be a ton of bullshit. Can't blame them though. Crossing the Dutch border divides the price of H by 4. Nice number. At least it was like that a few years ago. I haven't touched that shit in a while. But I guess not much has changed since there are talks about wanting to close/relocate all the coffeshops that are within a certain distance from the Belgian border (mostly due to the silly French heroin fiends). I don't really see how closing coffeeshops will repel heroin tourists but hey... I'm not in politics.
