Asking places for a job?
Frankly speaking, asking for a job from a place freaks me out. My parents are law-abiding citizens, and are pressuring me to ask around places. I'd prefer to move out and live off the proceeds of crime, but to do this I have to "run away", as opposed to moving out and keeping in contact with them. Or I could just continue to lie about having asked places for jobs and being turned down - that can't go on forever.

Re: Asking places for a job?
i was exactly like u when i first had to get a job, you can either go into a store and ask the first dumbshit you see with a nametag for an application and bring it back and say give this to the manager OR you can do what i did and just fill out an app online, at albertsons or some shit look at the bottom of the page it says "careers" just fill ou thte app takes like 30 minutes some places like target has those kiosks things nera customer service that u fill out on a computer, or goto a employee agency and fill out an app and they find a job for you FOR FREE

Re: Asking places for a job?
Good ideas. I might look into employment agencies. My parents seem happy for me to move out, they just don't know WHY I'd want to, and WHERE the money would come from.

Re: Asking places for a job?
Where are you gonna move out to if you don't have a job? Most places will check to make sure you have an actual LEGAL way to pay the rent.
Anyways, online apps can work but it's not easy to get a job that way, just cuz everyone does that. If you do go online it's good to call in and follow up if you haven't heard from the place in a certain amount of time. Sometimes just showing more initiative than the rest will be enough to get you an interview.
Check small businesses too. Just go to some area of your town with a few different businesses, walk into each one, and ask if they're hiring.

Re: Asking places for a job?
You're in no position to have a job anywhere if you can't even ask for one in the first place... build your confidence up or you won't suceed at any jobs. 'Who dares, wins'

Re: Asking places for a job?
i had shit all confidence when i landed my first job. i think the manager hired me out of pitty. but, all you gotta do is walk and ask to speak to the manager. if he/she is busy, ask for two application forms. one to rough it in. and one good copy with neat printed handwriting that you'll submit with your resume. if you've never done this before, take them home and read and write with care. bring them back the next day and try to hand it directly to the manager. introduce yourself. shake hands, etc. seem eager. you're basically selling your soul to the devil for some money.
