Canada Questions (Regarding Bars and Codeine)
So, roadtrip this weekend. Gonna be visiting some friends in buffalo, and we're planning on heading into canada for a little partying.
I haven't been to canada since I was a young child, so I have a few questions I'm hoping people from the area, or those who travel there, will be able to answer.
1. I understand you need two forms of ID to be crossing the border. I have my social security card and a sheriffs ID. Is the sheriffs ID an acceptable alternative to a driver's liscense? I can go get an interim one tomorrow, but that won't have a picture. What do you think?
2. Codeine. As an opiate lover, I plan on sippin' on that syzurp before hitting the bar. So, whats the deal with canada's OTC codeine? Age/quantity restrictions? What does it have to be mixed with? What amount of codeine will it contain?
3. The bars. Drinking age is 19, correct? Once again, the whole sheriffs ID thing; will canada let me use it to buy drinks? If it's 19 to drink, how old to be in the bar, but not drink?
4. Does canada offer anything else in the way of pharmacies that america does not? Or anything else I might wanna look into?
5. Now, I would never dream of transporting narcotics across the border, but how feasible is the idea? What are the odds of getting searched on the return trip? Would I be arrested or would they just confiscate my syzurp? What could I be charged with? Keep in mind I'd just have a few bottles, not a trunk full of the stuff.
5. Any other thoughts?

Re: Canada Questions (Regarding Bars and Codeine)
12.8mg? Stuff I looked up said 8mg. What contains 12.8mg?
And it looks like its legal to bring a certain amount of codeine back from canada. One site said possibly up to 500pills per adult in the vehicle. So I could theoretically bring back quite a bit distributed among everyone in the car.
Yeah, canada might suck, but we're doing this primarily for the roadtrip, to avoid what you just suggested, sitting home drinking and drugging.
Any other contributors?

Re: Canada Questions (Regarding Bars and Codeine)
Mmm, it's under consideration, but in all likihood, we'll just be on the canadian side of niagra falls, seeing as we have lots of shit to do in buffalo.
Plus I'm not a big fan of the weed, these days.
Someone reccomend a good club or bar, or answer my questions.

Codeine is easy to get. No age restrictions. Quantity, you may want to check with the store in question. Nuferon= 12.8mg codeine/200 ibuprofen. Emprin number 2 has 16 mg or something like that. I've only seen one store ever stock it though. Emprin 3- 32mg, 4= 60 mg. Never seen either of those though. As for bringing it back;
If it's a controlled substance. the limit is 50 tablets. See 21 CFR 1301.26.
3. The bars. Drinking age is 19, correct? Once again, the whole sheriffs ID thing; will canada let me use it to buy drinks? If it's 19 to drink, how old to be in the bar, but not drink?
You have to be 19 to even get into a bar/club. If it's a music venue, then mayyyyybeee you'd get past being 17/18. If you're 16, you're probably out of luck for that.
4. Does canada offer anything else in the way of pharmacies that america does not? Or anything else I might wanna look into?
Do you have tramadol? Dxm?
5. Now, I would never dream of transporting narcotics across the border, but how feasible is the idea?
Ask the thousands of mules that cross those borders daily.
What are the odds of getting searched on the return trip?
Very slim. Don't look suspicious. I've never been searched once in my many border crossings.
Would I be arrested or would they just confiscate my syzurp? What could I be charged with? Keep in mind I'd just have a few bottles, not a trunk full of the stuff.
I thought it was legal to bring it back?

Go skiing... on dissociatives!
but seriously, take that with a grain of salt, I'm only recommending that because I did that.
Good bars.... the Funhaus in Toronto is pretty good. They have a certain two hours where beer is half-price, which is only a few cents away from being store-price.
There's a restaurant on the CN tower.
The bars are usually fairly empty anywhere outside the huge cities.

Are there any that have only codeine or simply no ibuprofen (I'm allergic).
Shit, I thought that the drinking age was 18 in Canada.
Tramadol is OTC? Under the name Ultram?
Tips? Drugs dogs can't detect codeine, it can't be that hard.

There has to be something else in it with the Code. Usually ibu/apap with caffeine. There are tons of possibilities. Pop into a pharmacy or shoppers drug mart.
Ultram is OTC I believe. Drinking age= 19 in Ontario. Quebec it's 18, the others I'm not too sure about.
Just put 'em in a bag, and hide them somewhere. Chances are you won't even be second glanced.

Re: Canada Questions (Regarding Bars and Codeine)
Tramadol and Codeine are OTC in Canada but you have to ask for them in a pharmacy.
I'm sorry to hijack the thread but Azure, I remember you living in Canada and knowing about this stuff before. How can you convince the pharmacist to give it to you? Would asking for specific stuff make them less inclined to let you have it? What excuse can you use?
Would it be enough to just say Advil and Tylenol don't help with some pain you have?

Yeah, just talk to them a bit. Say regular tylenol doesn't work, etc. I've never been asked any substantial questions about it. I'm under 18 as well.
I see you're in TO, I can give you a list of really friendly pharmacies, guy's that'll just give it, lol.

That would be good. You mentioned a place called Dolmers or something before but I checked it out and it was way too far for me. The trip alone would cost more than the pills. :D
Know any places around Cabbagetown? I was considering going to one of the smaller chains like "Main Drug Mart" or something.

The only codein you will be able to get is the shitty t1s with like 8-15 mgs of codein, caffein, and tylenol.

Re: Canada Questions (Regarding Bars and Codeine)
Quebec is way better than Ontario. Montreal is probably the coolest city in North America. And stfu about that language crap, it just makes it more interesting. Besides, most people in Montreal speak a decent level of English.
The drinking age is 19 everywhere except Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec, where it's 18. Same goes for entrance to pubs, bars, and clubs. As for the codeine, I've only seen one store display anything with codeine, and even then it was only 7 mg -- and believe me, I looked a lot when I was younger. Most stores will probably carry it, but you'll likely have to ask the pharmacist to fetch it from storage (which is completely legal, though you might get a stern glare and a few questions).

Yeah I know I meant if you knew any particular ones that are least likely to ask questions but whatever, might as well try some myself.
Does tolerance to Codeine build up quickly? How do people continue taking it if due to the tolerance, they'll have to eventually stop because it will do nothing for them and it's impossible to increase your dose beyond a certain point with Codeine.

Re: Canada Questions (Regarding Bars and Codeine)
In Ontario they can be real bitches at bars when it comes to ID. Liquor/Beer Stores aren't as strict, but I have brand new Ontario ID that isn't even good enough to use at a bar. But I don't know the policy on foreign ID's.
Oh, and liquor costs a lot more here than it does in the US [in Ontario anyways].
As for codeine, you aren't going to find any syrup as far as I know. I've never heard of anybody getting it OTC. I've never heard of Nuferon either, never asked though [this is the first I'm hearing of it]. Perhaps I'll look into it in the future. Either way T1's contain 8mg codeine and usually 15mg caffeine and 300mg-500mg APAP. Go with the generic brand just to save money, and you have to ask the pharmacist for them.

the ceiling dose is for 4 hours or something like that. So every 4 hours you could take the ceiling dose. But your right eventually you would even be able to maintain on it.

Oh, and I don't know about anywhere outside of Toronto but around here if you go to China town and come up to a person in an LCBO that looks least likely to know English (like some Chinaman) you probably won't be carded.

Re: Canada Questions (Regarding Bars and Codeine)
From what I know about the Toronto area its really easy to get codeine. As long as you don't go to that hellhole known as "Shopper's Drugmart". They overprice everything and give shitty service.... they're like walmart without all the low prices.
Go to an independent pharmacy and ask for "Tylenol 1s" and they'll say something like "those aren't produced anymore, but we have a generic version" and if they ask "are they for you" or "have you ever taken them before?" say something like "they're for my mom, she just asked me to go buy them (while I'm out)" and they'll explain "no alcohol, no heavy machinery, etc..." and then you just pay and leave.
The shopper's drugmart will probably tell you to get the 500/50 acetaminophen/caffeine "Maximum" Strength Tylenols or go see a doctor if its actual pain. or they'll say "hold on", go talk to their manager, then come back and say "no, we don't have anything like that".
