Loperamide. (Yes, i know what you're thinking.)
I know i may be close to sacrificing any reputation whatsoever i may have built up by inquiring about this OTC diarrhoea relief drug.. but here goes.
I have found when searching teh interwebs on the subject of Opiate potentiation that on numerous occasions, people mention the use of Loperamide.
First off, the only real Scientific evidence i have of Loperamide producing analgesic/recreational effects is from Wikipedia.
When loperamide is taken by itself, it cannot readily cross the blood-brain barrier; however, when loperamide-containing nanoparticles are coated with polysorbate 80 and injected, the results were the same as typical opiates and opioids -- long, effective analgesia. A solution prepared using loperamide coated with polysorbate 80 resulted in a very short duration of action and less effective analgesic effect. The same study concluded that loperamide does not cause any analgesic effects when taken by itself.
Now, i know what you're thinking: who the fuck has the other necssary chemicals and time to bother doing all of this?
However all i mean to prove by quoting this, is that it IS possible to use Loperamide recreationally. After reading this, i began to think as to whether the drug could be abused in a simpler fashion.
Of course, i am aware that this drug doesn't readily cross the blood brain barrier- however apparently when combined with an opiate such as codeine, it can produce a "weak Darvon-like buzz", according to www.opiods.com:
Loperamide (Immodium): This drug is related to meperidine/pethidine (Demerol) but does not cross the blood-brain barrier in sufficient quantities to cause euphoria. However, the consumption of doses of 150-300% of the therapeutic dose when mixed with high doses of codeine or meprobamate have been reported to produce a weak Darvon-like buzz aside from the effects of the other drugs.
There are many more examples of people doing this on websites such as Bluelight, however, as we know- Bluelight is mostly complete shit.
My last source however will be controversially from there, due to an interesting 5-page thread i found that quite intrigued me. On top of this, the users actually sounded quite genuine and intelligent, unlike the normal 13yo kidiots who frequent the site.
According to the thread, (which can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/5b9qaa) an ex poppy-tea user frequently used Loperamide (in heroic doses) to help with his WD's, with great success:
(Due to the length of the thread i have quoted the main necessary information, as you probably can't be bothered doing it yourself.)
lately I've been doing Loperamide. Does anyone else do this? I feel effects starting at 30-40mg and get a nod near 90mg. I take it with grapefruit juice and antacid.
Positives: Great body rush, very relaxing, increase in mood, I feel light and happy.
Negatives: Itchy, dry mouth, a little constipation (but not as bad as with poppy tea), stoned out looking and feeling.
I would like to hear others experiences...
What interested me most about this actually came later on in the thread, when another seemingly sane individual also commented upon how the drug worked for him:
A quick personal history: I have been using opioids/opiates in various forms for over 5 years, and consider myself an opie addict. My tolerance has varied over time, and my usual DOC is poppy tea, though lately I have been doing an average of 80-100mg of OC in addition to the poppy tea. For the last two months, I have also been dosing 3-4 days in a row, the taking a break for 3-4 days, then repeating. My tolerance is not as high as it once was, but it still takes about 120mg of Oxy for me to feel pretty good, or about 100mg of Methadone. I am far from opiate niave therefore.
And later in the same post, he describes the drug's effects:
The first thing I noticed was a lessening of anxiety and lowering of my BP. My restless energy, especially in my legs, started to lessen as well. My vision seemed to darken a bit, and I felt a bit dizzy, and got fairly strong cottonmouth. Another hour passed by without any percieved increase in effects, and it was not until 30 more minutes had passed that I notice all of a sudden, I did not feel that crappy anymore. I auctually felt ok, I have just about no anxiety, my heart rate was normal, I felt a little bit stoned like I has just smoked a small bowl of weed, and I was hungry too. I was also very thirsty, which was good, as you need to make sure you drink a lot of water when taking high doses of this stuff, not that any of you would do that I had to go to work that night, I work as a waiter (a horrible job to work when in WD's), and found I could easily enguage my customers with little effort, which normally would be next to impossible while in WD. I did feel pretty tired though, and a definite 'high' as the night wore on. I found I slurred my words when I spoke too fast, and concentration was sometimes difficult, just like on a good dose of any typical opie. The negative effects, like the dry mouth and dizzyness, were abated a bit with lots of water and some simple wholesome foods, such as fruit and vegatables. It was not so bad I could not work however. I even had to drink 2 cups of strong coffee to help stay awake, and normally I aviod all caffiene drinks during WD, as they make me feel even worse. It took me about 60 hours to produce a bowel movement, and I did get a bit of bloating, but only after about 48 hours. Oh, I was also able to sleep almost 4-5 hours each night, whereas normally, I would get zero or maybe 2-3 hours of very broken up sleep. Overall I felt much, much better then I should have, considering I had nothing else but Tylenol and Immodium in me. The tiredness and dizzyness did get to me however, and I did not wish to push the dose any higher. At times I felt pretty sedated.
And finally:
Well, that is about it. I know that Loperaimde does not cross the BBB, but in high doses, it most certainly has an effect, as these three trials were in no way placebo. I have read too many credibile reports now, so something is going on here without a doubt. With the liquid I really felt it coming on. I will note I never felt even a hint of euphoria, not even with the 48mg dose, but who cares when I found I can buy something off the shelf that is available everywhere, that helps so much with my WD's. OTC Methadone indeed. I don't know what would happen to an opie naive individual with large doses though, I really don't think it is a good idea to self-experiment here guys with this drug, find a better and safer one.
Please remember what I wrote is only my opinion, and is competely subjective, but Loperamide worked so well for me, I will always use it to assist in WD, it is too valueable a tool for me not too. I hope no one thinks I am trolling, as I may not be well-known here, but I do have a good rep at another site on the web dealing mainly with poppies in their raw form. I just wanted to get this info out, as Bluelight has answered many of my questions over the years, and if I can help one poor fool like myself that has taken opies too far and finds themselves in a bind, then sharing this info with you was worth it.
I apologize if you're of the assumption that my thread has further clogged BLTC- what with all of the retarded and noobish threads and users we're getting these days. However i really think this drug just might have some recreational potential, no matter how minute.
Mods- if you dislike my thread, feel free to lock it, i just wanted to make a good contribution to BLTC instead of the Acolyte-esque shit we're getting so much of these days.

Re: Loperamide. (Yes, i know what you're thinking.)
Look on bluelight. Someone actually took a few *boxes* of immodium. Look it up, seriously. No real recreational effects, just a feeling of "contentedness". Maybe good for WDs if you're hurting real bad..
Plus you get the awesome effect of constipation!

Re: Loperamide. (Yes, i know what you're thinking.)
yeah wikipedia is "real Scientific" evidence.
This has been tried a lot before. It's theoretically possible, but nobody's done the actual homework to make it happen. If I were you I wouldn't be convinced by those anecdotal accounts and instead just take the time and money to get your polysorbate 80 and whatever else you'll need. Maybe work with those folks in LT.
but I'm not you, and for the price of 90mg loperamide, I could just get high.

This man is a wise man you should listen to him before you spend 50 bucks on fucking Immodium.

Re: Loperamide. (Yes, i know what you're thinking.)
i have done exyenisve reaserch on this, using only peer reviewed scientific studies. I've even written a couple of term papers about it.
In all my research i found no possibility of getting any recteational effects without the ability to create and infuse nanoparticles.
anecdotal evidence to the contrary is almost certainly bullshit or placebo.

Ok, so all anecdotal evidence given so far is now definetly 100% bullshit- due to this post.
Right.
Way to go and destroy my thread within a few of your short intelectually-driven sentences.

you can make some carbon nanoubes and bucky balls with the arc-discharge or arc-melting methods, how you're going to get your constipation pills in the buckminster fullerenes, i dunno..
