Communicating on Shrooms
Anyone else find talking to other people while tripping really fucked? Eye contact freaks me out. I think it stayed with me and turned into an anxiety problem now. It's getting to me. Fuckin eye contact. Any solutions to this other than more drugs? Benzos work magic but I'd rather not have to use them.

Re: Communicating on Shrooms
I did shrooms once with one other friend, we did it on his couch directly in front of his tv, I didnt move from my spot all night (like 10+ hours) and didn't say one word. Was too busy enjoying my CEV and watching the room incole on me.

Yeah pretty much.
I remember one night me and a friend were tripping hard in the mortuary I worked/lived at. There was this girl I recently met and she took some too - her first trip I later found out.
Well me and my friend started talking giberish to each other. But we were totally understanding each other. It was a blast. That is until we looked over to the girl. See, she had thought we were still talking in english and that she couldn't understand us. Sent her into a total carpet dive.

I've had acid trips where I talked to people about extremely in-depth topics for hours, but then I have had trips where I refused to talk to anyone. It really all comes back to how you approach the trip.

Yikes. Temporary aphasia isn't half as scary as good ol' ego death.

Re: Communicating on Shrooms
I actually quite enjoy communicating with others on shrooms. One of my greatest mushroom memories involved a friend and I driving around and listening to good music, windows down, cool spring breeze in the air. He had just smoked weed but I'd toked and consumed 3.5g's.

Agreed. I love the social aspect of shrooms / acid. That's taught me what I believe are the keys to a happy life
don't be offended
never be embarressed
learn to regret nothing
I'm not saying that those are all the keys, nor that I've learned to apply all this knowledge yet, but I'm trying.
Also, I didn't learn this from psychedelics, but never be afraid to make eye contact.

Well.. Those 3 key points can be simplified. Learn to let go and be free, something most people aren't capable of doing. Sometimes you have to accept your boundries, sometimes you have to accept the things you're chained to as you eventually become part of them, and they become part of you.

You should always make direct eye contact when communicating with another human/humanoid.

Re: Communicating on Shrooms
I took about an eight and my buddy did the same. For the duration of the trip, I couldve sworn we communicated telepathically. Like, we'd be staring into space, look at each other, and realize we were thinking about the same thing.

YEA! That FEELING. We were both staring out into the forest and night and it looked so magical/mythical. We both just said "Is this real?" at about the same time.

Re: Communicating on Shrooms
Shrooms fuck with me. I hate talking to people because I either think I'm making a fool of myself and everyone is going to remember this and hate (no matter what I say, can be the dumbest shit) or I think I'm on a totally different level than everyone else.Every once in a while I have some interesting talks with friends where I totally get what their saying and I know what their going to say before they say it and just totally connect with them but its not throughout the whole trip.
The thing is if I don't talk to someone after a point I either think things are really awkward (if I'm in a group) or I just get flat out lonely and just want to talk to someone (when I'm alone).

Re: Communicating on Shrooms
ive come to learn a few valuable things about shrooms/psychedelics. and not even from my own use, but from people close to me. if you believe you may have issues of confidence and tend to be an anxious, jealous and/or mistrusting person, psychs are definitely not for you. see, sometimes my self i tend to over-think things and over analyze things. i tend to focus too much on peoples body language, what they might be thinking about me, worried to speak because i might sound foolish, whatever. and the eye contact thing comes in here too. awkward things might arise, you and a friend are tripping pretty hard, and you might look at each other at the same exact moment. ive had this happen and it can be sort of unsettling. maybe its just me, but this reply is starting to drag out. anyways, my friends that did these psychs before and have had problems make things awkward in everyday life. they find it hard to talk to people, look them in the eye, be trusting, etc. they have since quit and they have all told me that their lives have been "easier to handle." so maybe you should chill on the drugs and make sure your brain fully develops the ability to interact on a normal level with other human beings. and for my advice, mind over matter son. no one should make you feel displaced or uncomfortable in the first place. no one is superior to you in any way or inferior. they are just other people. you are the only person that has the power to change your way of thinking and having a positive outlook will make your life better. shrooms can sort of cloud your perception for a time but you arent facing anything permanent. alright. peace.

I'm the same way on acid. People really fuck with me. I'd honestly rather trip on acid by myself than with other people.

Re: Communicating on Shrooms
Ahh yes, the greater group conscious, or at least, that's what my friends and I refer to it as.
I've experienced this in pretty much every mush trip I've had in my lifetime, and some of the more extreme THC highs, however I feel the mush's were by far the longest and in depth of the two.
Now, I can't exactly explain why it happens or what causes it, but it is my theory, and somewhat personal belief, that the active ingredients in psyche mush's(I can't spell the chem names right, so I won't try) sort of open up potential in the human brain than we normally have access too. Now keep in mind I have no proof on this, and I highly doubt it does, but its just a theory, and a cool idea. If you really think about it, at least in my experiences, I can multitask better on common things that usually are hard for me( i.e. holding 2 convo's at once, remembering things during the trip while I'm still tripping, and talking about random things that end up in 2 to 3 hour conversations that get everyone into them and everyone just understands everyone at the end).
Call it what you want, I don't deal in facts, I deal in ideas.

They trip naturally. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4583670.stm

Psychedelics help you. They can turn on you, but only if it's necessary.
shrooms can sort of cloud your perception for a time but you arent facing anything permanent.
They can also do simple things like provide an interface for you to interact with the entity that is called, knowledge or biology. : o
A lot of people are shy, but they don't have to be.

You might find it interesting to research quaker religious believes. It deals with some sort of god flow that interacts with people, making them have ideas and information that are to be let out spontaneously, in a group of people, allowing the god(stuff) to spread to other people and choose to speak with the individuals by forming ideas and subconsious memes.
That's my take on it, I think it ties together in a way, especially with some of the ideas that were received via some form of super learning, or telepathy while in altered states of consciousness, which seemed to be something larger entirely, not of words or objects.
Since we're on the subject...and the thread title made me think of it, anyone experience ET contact with the helpers? Awareness of their underlying archetypes and genetic coding?

Very true. Most people who have bad trips have these traits. I once knew a guy with heaps of personal demons and various fucked up things going on in his life; he always had the worst trips. He looked like he was in complete misery. What psychedelics tend to do is show you who you really are, and to a somewhat lesser degree, show you who other people really are. I know that's clichéd pseudo-philosophical psyche-babble, but it's true. And that's why I love shrooms :). Acid's great too, but it always feels more artificial.

true. they can aid people. ive heard of people with certain problems, frequent depression, cluster headaches, stuff like that, that have taken psychs and changed their lives forever. and for better. with some people, it helps them see the world in a different light for a change. i know that when i first boomed i felt great afterward. it was like i was born again. every day was new and refreshing and had every opportunity in it. ive also gone on a psych binge or two since then and i know that it really fucked with me. i had a hard time feeling good about anything. i was depressed, miserable, suicidal... it was no bueno. but i still appreciate the drug for changing my life for the better. im just gonna have to chill on that shit for a while to get myself back together!
