i have some darvocet 100s, with 100 mg propoxyphene and 625 mg acetaminophen.

how many could i take without reaching toxic levels of either chemical? ive read of the internet that the ld50 of propoxyphene is 500 mgs but ive heard otherwise anecdotely. anyone here know for sure? and is it correct to say that acetaminophen is toxic at around 3 grams?

edit: does anyone know if propoxyphene is metabolized by the CPY enzyme? im asking because i have some cimetidine (CPY inhibitor). would that potentiate it?

first off, the LD50 of a chemical is not measured in mgs, but in mgs/kg, or something like that. you need to understand that before we can have a coherent conversation.

next,the LD50 of propoxyphene is probably within the range of 15-30 mgs/kg.

last, no, it is not correct to assume that a toxic dose of APAP is around 3 grams.

according to this article: http://www.drugs.com/ppa/acetaminophen-n-acetyl-p-aminophenol-apap.html, the highest recommended dose of APAP in 1 day is 3.9 grams. this does not mean it is a toxic dose. ive heard of people taking up to 7 grams of APAP without ill effects.

i know that it is measured in mg/kg, i just figured it would be easier to get the ld for an average wieght person instead of doing the calculations. but if you insist, i will

id say i wiegh 90 kilograms. so between 1350 and 2700 mgs? that leaves a lot of room for error.

you prolly know this, but darvocet is a shitty opiate, and taking more will only make you sick, and not make you feel better. that said, the maximum recommended daily dosage is 600mg propoxyphene napsylate.
also, 65mg propoxyphene hydrochloride = 100mg propoxyphene napsylate

The absolute best way to use Darvocet is as a filler for the bottom of your garbage can.
