Working out while on opiates
Okay well here is the deal I've been addicited to various opiates for the last 6 months. I'm planning on lowering my dosage over the next two weeks until im off.
Would working out with weights effect me in a negative way, while using opiates, wether i stay on or ween my self?

Re: Working out while on opiates
well lets say I decide to stay on opiates , is it still a good idea to work out? would i still gain muscle mass?
Here is a little background. I'm 5'11, before my opiate usage I was at 125lbs. Now I am at 116lbs. My bmi is definately under what it should be for my height.

Re: Working out while on opiates
I think you might be at risk for a strain because you wont be able to feel it...like you lift too much but can't feel much pain.
other than that I can't really think of anything besides being addicted in general.

Re: Working out while on opiates
I do this all the time. I nod off on the weights while resting sometimes and if I push too hard I might have to ran to the bathroom to yak it. Other than that its nice for making the body numb to the workout. I've been doing this for a while now. Shit, I've done every single day-to-day activity you can imagine while under the influence of opiates.

Re: Working out while on opiates
Well me too , except working out. It's just that I want to again but now I'm a junkie. But I dont think I'm that bad as other people are. I only occasionaly use H and I dont use a spike any more, just oxies and vicodins pretty much.

Re: Working out while on opiates
Jesus christ 116lbs at 5'11?
On one hand, at that weight theres no way you could lift enough weight to strain your joints or tendons - even on opes. But that is dangerously underweight and people dangerously underweight definitely need to consult a qualified doctor before starting a work out regime.
When was the last time you saw a doc? Do you have any other medical conditions that could account for your weight (because that could affect it as well)?

no man, no... lifting weights can only benefit you, whether on opiates (not to the point of nod), tapering off opiates, or not taking opes at all. A good lifting routine is very beneficial when tapering or going through w/d. Some can't even imagine lifting when going c/t... it is very hard and takes a lot of will to do, but it is manageable. Maybe not the first couple/few days of w/d, but it can still be done. A good routine and supplementing along with protein powders, (weight gainers are a god send when going through w/d, whether working out or not, because you probably won't feel like eating much if at all, but stir a couple scoops of weight gainer in your drink and you have a meal), along with vitamins such as b-complex and a good multi, and last but not least, DLPA. DLPA along working out will help significantly kick start your brain's endorphin production again. Also getting good nutrition (eating alot) while w/ding helps a lot too.
You need to eat as much as you can, skinny dude. I would break you in half.

Re: Working out while on opiates
Doesn't everyone in prison spend all their time taking drugs of all kinds and working out?

Yeah, what else would they do really? In jail they watch a lot of TV as well, if you're in a nice enough area to have one.

Re: Working out while on opiates
I run on opiates all the time. I've read that opiates significantly hinder protein synthesis. Could be; I'm a pretty skinny guy.
