homemade wine (tips)
okay for all uninformed. you can make wine at home cheaply fairly quickly. heres how (http://www.warpbreach.com/6/6.html).
but none of the sites get very in detail or give many tips and tricks for
increasing potency
speeding up the time it takes to ferment
what juices make the best wines
and other things
so i would like to know if any experienced winemakers have any tips and secrets to making better, stronger wine.

Re: homemade wine (tips)

Once it's done fermenting it's done, that's it. To increase the alcohol content from here you must distill it. You can do a ghetto job on wines and other stuff with low alcohol content by tossing it in the freezer. Save the liquid and toss the ice [or slush rather]. Be careful with distilling though as you can kill/blind yourself or others very easily if you don't know what you're doing.
speeding up the time it takes to ferment
Not much you can do here besides making sure you have proper brewing yeast and proper sugar content. Its a natural process, you can't really force it.
what juices make the best wines
Grape? This is a matter of personal taste and experimentation. You can make great wine out of just about any juice if you're a great wine maker, and shitty wine out of the same juice if you're a shitty wine maker. Just use something you like.
If you wanna make good wine start by getting good yeast. Using baking yeast will work but its the first step in shitty tasting wine [or beer]. Also having a means, and taking the time to filter your shit out will make all the difference as well. You don't want to be drinking some shit that's still got bits of yeast floating around in it.
