Profitable restuarant idea
Do this if you open or want to open a restaurant and make lots of profit.
first your going to have to make your restaurant look high class and fancy. don't have anything in the back except a stove, sink and other basic stuff.
get a professional looking chef outfit.
next get your food, go to the grocery store and get that fancy lookin' pizza
http://media.commercialappeal.com/mca/content/img/photos/2007/09/18/f19samp.jpeg
and a lot of Michelina's frozen dinners, ones you want on your menu.
make really fancy names for each of your dishes, but really just serve everyone Michelina's and store bought pizza at a (highly profitable) marked up price.
to make it more convincing , sprinkle pepper or oregano on your dishes .
no one will be the wiser, and by the time someone finds out you will be rich and can do this to some other town.

Re: Profitable restuarant idea
You would want to go to a wholesale depot or something otherwise it might be illegal to resell some of the products. I just pulling this out of my ass tho.

You'll want to do that anyway because you will be making a shitload of pizzas and they are cheaper from a wholesaler.
You do realize not many high class restaurants sell pizza?

That will only work until someone wants to 'customize' their pizza. For example, I usually order mine without sauce. Some people can't have cheese.
Then what?

They say that certain products aren't for resale, but I think its a load of shit, considering that you own the damn things.

I was going to point out the many possible problems and inaccuracies and suggest to find a good local wholesaler until you said Michelinas. Those things are fucking delicious. It'd be just like those Carl's Jr. and Dominos? pasta commercials with the fake restaurant.

tell people the menu is set, and the chef would be offended to change any of his recipes.

Why dont you invest slightly more money, actually make pizzas - and then sell the thriving business in 6 months time when its established?

This.
If you can pull of your plan, then there is a market for that kind of a restaurant. Which means you can just make a legit one and stay out of trouble.

People are cutting back on expenses right now. A restaurant is a stupid startup at the moment.

Restaurants would be hell to own though. Unless you own some big chain, you'd constantly have to be at your restaurant, making sure everything goes smoothly.

It's been done for ages ago, when you imply that something should be in a different forum you say a phrase with the name of the forum and bold the name.
Here it was used in a humorous way.

Re: Profitable restuarant idea
Not profitable....
Make it with fresh ingredients for $1-$1.50/pizza, or buy some shit frozen pizza for $3-5/pizza.
Then allow for overheads, insurance, staff, maintenance, etc, etc.
The standard food resale valu is 4x the cost of making it. Depending on location it may be up to 6, any more and it isnt appealing to customers.. Any ingredients you dont use can be stored for the next day, the average pizza base only cost's ~30-50c each. And fresh veg can be bought at markets early in the morning for really cheap.

lol, I'm not an idiot.
I haven't move this to BI because although the idea maybe belongs there. Here, it gets discussed (IMO) a little better. Read the thread and you'll see what I mean if you don't already.

Yes. What I think that gentlemen meant to say, was the following: "The Original Poster of the aforementioned thread has voiced that which is most definitely a bad idea. But, since "Bad Ideas" is also a name of one of the forums around this place, I could make it bold, like in other situations when a similar phrase is used, for comedic effect. I, of course, in no way imply that this thread needs to be moved to "Bad Ideas" - I only did this in the name of a jolly good laugh."
Care for a cigar, good sir?

Indeed fine sir.*take big breath* It is though of the general consensus that when chaps create posts of such characteristics that their intentions are more deliberate than those expressed by you as a revision to my earlier postings. *and breathe*

Re: Profitable restuarant idea
Too expensive. These premade meals never come with enough food.
Store bought pizza has dry crispy crust. Not soft crust like delivery. pre made pasta dishes are always bland. your better off buying it fresh and paying an immigrant who was a professional cook back home to cook for $5.60 an hour. And pay some likeable fat italian man to greet the customers.

you realize restaurants already make a shitload of money right? the restaraunt I work at now buys their food at the restaurant depot, and filet Mignon costs them 8 bucks a piece. if you were to buy pizza dough and sauce you cheese it would be cheaper than box pizza and will taste better.

All the restaurant owners I've talked to in the past couple months are cutting their employee's hours and barely turning a profit. During a recession Joe 6 Pack idiot always focuses on the little shit like eating out and don't fix their big expenditures until they've maxed out their cards trying to sustain a lifestyle they couldn't afford in the first place.
You can have some custom dies made, a shop press, a shear, some sheet metal, and a spot welder, all on a small business loan, and crank out high capacity magazines at about 100-200 a day. With materials costing maybe $5 a magazine.
I'd guess ~$5000 to get a basement operation going, and a little bit more for a faster press. If they ban them again, all the better. Stick it to the ATF and sell them fake id style.
If you are going to take ANYTHING away from watching the current economic news is THE SERVICE INDUSTRY IS FUCKED.

Although I do agree people will be visiting restaurants much less now. I don't think fast food will have that much of a downturn.
