It's (well I guess not so) unexpected, that it's such an American way of rolling, what is most commonly done here(not using a roach), wasteful and crude. Basically stupid imho. Even if you're smoking the worst weed you should give yourself the basic respect of a decent smoke.

On the other hand, notice Europeans have their smoking culture and technique down a little better than us. They produce the illest pieces, including RooRs. They obviously roll better j's, and they even sometime have to mix tobacco into their weed just to make it burn right. That's how you know they have their shit together. Plus, have you noticed how all decent papers, from ziz zags, rizlas, TOPs, e-z widers, come from either france or spain?

Americans don't use roaches? That's well grimey, I can't stand even a roll up with out some kind of filter/roach.

Perhaps you can roll a joint with a wonderfully short roach and therefore have a smaller piece of evidence. Sometimes, even with a roach, once it gets short enough it'll burn your fingers. The wire also makes passing the joint a hell of a lot easier and no one squishes the roach while passing or toking. I suppose it would also make a good support if you're one of those people that rolls limp dick joints.

Mach I, II, III et cetra

This is what I do too. I wouldn't say not putting in a filter is wasteful, but the majority of my joints do have filters in them.

And we call them Generation I/II/III not Mach. Ie, smoking a Gen. I joint would be a joint made of normal roaches. Gen. II joints are joints rolled out of the roaches of Gen I joints. Farthest I've gotten is to four, didn't much care to smoke much farther cause that shit was nasty. Gets you fucking baked, though.

EDIT: So that some of this post is on topic... I've never seen those papers, but I've heard about them. They seem like they'd be more of a one or two time thing, then they'd get old. Nothing special about them from what i've heard.

OP: Go to pretty much any hardware store and buy a box of alligator clips, or get an antistatic wrist strap and take one off of it. Aligator clips are small, portable, indefinitely reusable, and easy to use. You don't even have to remember to squeeze them like you do tweezers. Best of all, they don't actually touch your weed, they just touch the paper. No offense, but I wouldn't want to take even the smallest risk and stick a paperclip in my joint when I have such a better alternative.

I used to always roll filtered joints. Nowadays, I've started rolling them without filters. It's easier to just throw an unfiltered roach in my bong to finish it than it is to painstakingly pull the roach out with tweezers, while trying not to tear the paper open. Filters are great for keeping those tiny bits of weed out of your mouth, but when I know I'm going to want to finish that roach in the bong, I just save myself a little hassle. Plus, I figure filters could possibly filter out the THC, so I'm getting the strongest smoke possible.

I don't use roaches in my joints. When it gets down to the point it burns my fingers I just put whats left of my joint into the carb hole of my piece and hit it that way.

No offense, but I wouldn't want to take even the smallest risk and stick a paperclip in my joint when I have such a better alternative.

Well, I take a slightly different approach to smoking my joints. Actually, I roll spliffs pretty often, anyway, if I don't have a grinder handy. Really helps it burn juuuust right.

But anyway, since I roll my own smokes (the tobacco for spliffs has to come from somewhere) I generally don't use a cardboard filter so much, but just make a little plug of tobacco at the end. When I no longer taste pot while I'm smoking I either toss it like a normal cigarette butt or toss it into my little chillum.

Doobies are horribly wasteful to begin with. So if your worried about a tiny amount of weed then you should probably use a pipe or bong or something.

Filters suck balls. They let the resin run out the end and give you a poop tooth. A properly rolled joint has no use for any type of filter.

On the east coast of Canada they do shit euro style, pinner joints with cardboard filters, as soon as you get across the prairies we've got our own way of doing it, its kind of weird, stoner culture.

But if you're in one of the many counties in our great nation that doesnt take too kindly to cannabis, appearing from across a parking lot that you're smoking a cigarette instead of a joint can save you a lot of hassle.

Here in sweden we put a rolled up piece of thick paper as a filter, so it doesnt really 'filter' any of the smoke.
And you can smoke aaaaall the weed you put into the joint, without having those fucking ridiculous 'roach clips'
Then you save all the roaches in the 'roachbox' and when you're jonesing for a stonesing and the town's dry you bring out the roachbox and combine it all into a massive mama moster jay.

1) I think a wire going through your blunt/jay is retarded.

2) A properly rolled blunt doesn't need a bridge. I like having a pile of roaches I can burn through and get ripped during dry periods. However, the bridge, or crutch, prevents you from burning your lips or fingers during that last bit, and holds the tip wide-open to get some billowing hits. I use them when I don't want to keep any bud on me so I can burn my blunt and toss a piece of cardboard.

Wired rolling papers are for ganja noobers, i would never use them.
Clear rolling papers are for people who like to brag/show off that they smoke weed, and despite being 100% cellulose they still taste worse than even french lites, when you lick them the moistened part rolls backwards and it pisses me off. The only good part is that they dont get resin-soggy since all the juice is trapped inside. Novelty wears out before you finish your pack, but when noone knew about them and whenever i was with people who i did not want to share smoke with i would use the clears and tell them its plastic/cellophane or whatever "because i had no real papers" hahaha they would get grossed out and i would get baked by myself.

When it is really fire weed and I dont want to waste any then i put thick paper roaches in my J's, and I learned that if you roll them somewhat tight you are less likely to get pooptooth. mmmmm pooptooth... Every time, within 2 weeks i have seen him eat over 20 roaches, complete with paper and ash-cherry. Made me laugh hard every time and he was like "what?!? you guys never eat a roach?" as if that was a tradition in Indiana.

yeah i used King Randy's Wired papers and wouldnt go back to them. They're large so you only need one but someone niggar lipped it (got the end wet cause they took a drink right before they toked ) and the wire prevents you from ripping the end off to get that gross shit out of there.

I roll without a filter or anything. Smoke it down until it starts to burn, then pop it into the bong. Best way to handle the roach, imo, doesn't waste anything.

Fuck filters in joints. As long as you're not down syndrome and smoke it properly you can smoke that thing until there's nothing left. Roaches/filters in joints is just a hassle. Keep it simple, stupid. Lastly, for those people that save their roaches and roll them all into 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation joints - get some class boys. I've actually heard this too. The reasoning was that all the resin/tar on the filter would get you higher if you eat it. But really, roach joints are dirty enough for me, fuck EATING the roach.
