Default Partitions got renumbered, how do i find my swap

I reinstalled windows and got grub back on, but I lost a few small FAT partitions I was using as placeholders in the process.

I found my other partitions but I cant seem to find my swap. Im in linux with no swap ATM, how do i find my swap? I know what size it is.

Try this for now:
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

Alternatively, you said you knew what size it was, unfortunately, unless you know the cylinder you started and ended it at, the size may or may not matter.

For example, if you have sda1 and sda2, and you know SWAP was sda3, but sda1 and sda2 have not moved, you could potentially recover the partition, using the size with fdisk. Unfortunately, if any partitions overlap the cylinders, the size is insignificant.

Try TestDisk first, it is available for a bunch of operating saystems.

You have a working Linux environment? Try fdisk -l. That's L as in Lima Bean. The output of that will be a list of every partition on every drive that Linux can figure out. Swap partitions are ID type 82, and fdisk will helpfully label them "Linux swap."

Translating the Linux-style /dev/sdx (or /dev/hdx, depending) to actual physical drive locations is another story. Fdisk will show starting and ending cylinders, though, as well as size (though only in blocks). It might be enough information for you, anyway.

If you want us to help you further give us your MBR.
You can do so using dd if=/dev/sda of=~/mbr.bin count=1, then simply give us the file or the hexdump (hexdump -C -v ~/mbr.bin).

My partitions just got renumbered, I only lost my FAT partitons, and fuck those anyway.

The fdisk -l worked, turned out my swap was still hda3.
