Length of Time for Marijuana to Decompose to Point of No Smell
Does anyone know a range for this? We could think about the different conditions... like in a dry environment with air current (my computer), I noticed a pronounced reduction in potency after 5 days or so. This was in a baggy at the time. This should also be compared to weed decomposing in the dirt, or in your sink.

Re: Length of Time for Marijuana to Decompose to Point of No Smell
If you leave weed sitting out for 5 days in just a bag it wouldn't effect potency that much. It would just dry it the fuck out and make it shitty. I always keep my nuggets in a sealed bell or mason jar to ensure freshness and potency.
As far as how long the shit will stay good. I found 7 grams of hash last night from 5 years ago and it still gets me ripped. It's obviously not bomb grade hash now but it still gets you high. I have also had bud that I found just laying in a baggy after like 3 or so months and it tasted like crap, got me high and gave me a headache. Time/Air/Heat(Having a bag sit in your car in the middle of summer for a week) effect the quality of herb significantly.
Glass is the way to go for freshness.

I have little mason jars for my bud, but I normally keep it in a medicine bottle (cleaned, medicine bottle, the kind you get from the pharmacy) And keep it in a drawer where it's dark and dry.
Think this is a good storage method as well?

Glass airtight containers are the best way to go. Pill bottles and other little plastic airtight containers are good, but bud still seems to dry out faster stored in plastic from my experience.

just put it in a baby food or mason jar if you have a lot, this is one of the better ways to prevent smell unless you have a vacuum sealer.

Re: Length of Time for Marijuana to Decompose to Point of No Smell
I recall reading once that in plastic bags, it lasts up to a year before it goes bad.
However, key words: up to.
Definitely go with the glass jars to make it last as long as possible. I've heard glass jars with rubber tops are even better than mason jars.

A gram lasts me a month and a half. I bought 2 grams about 2 months ago, and still have over a gram left. It's just sitting there.

These are you best two options. Either airtight glass jars or pill bottles will offer the most protection. They also stop the weed from being crushed and prevent it from reeking up your room if thats a concern. Plus they look cool.
