Supernatural horror books?
Any recommendations?
I'm having a hard time finding supernatural horror on amazon. It seems like people are obsessed with vampire books these days.
I'm especially looking for something involving ghosts maybe. Doesn't have to though.

Re: Supernatural horror books?
Anything written by Stephen King, while complete garbage and without any social value whatsoever, is incredibly rewarding and addicting.

Re: Supernatural horror books?
It - Stephen King
The Shining - Stephen King
You could include Sphere by Michael Crichton, though that's more of a psycho-thriller.
You could look into H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe.

I really enjoyed Pet Semetary so I'd recommend that.

The one I'm reading currently is pretty good so far. It came highly recommended from a few people.
It's called Heart Shaped Box and it was written by Joe Hill who is King's son.
I'm only a third of the way in, but it has been very fast paced with the spookies.

Re: Supernatural horror books?
Look into short stories. I think that the best horror is contained in short stories. It's an amazing medium.

Re: Supernatural horror books?
I would recommend Borderlands 3, by Thomas Monteleone. I believe it's an anthology of short horror stories by different authors, but the selection is awesome. Not all supernatural, but all horror.
It's been a bitch to track down any of the Borderlands books, but I finally found #5 today. Win.

Try 'House Of Leaves' by Mark Z. Danielewski, which has been mentiond on here before.
Also i'm currently reading 'The House of Lost Souls' by F.G Cottam which is worth checking out, I think.

Re: Supernatural horror books?
My sister was talking recently to me concerning my interest in horror and the supernatural and she mentioned that a great deal of novels produced today are inspired by the gothic genre. So I would recommend you chase down some older novels and short stories (though I will admit I fell asleep reading At The Mountains Of Madness )
