Heroine...Opiates in General...
Why the hell do people try them? Every time I come into BLTC theres a new thread about someone going through WD and desperately trying to kick the habit and moaning over how terrible it is....
The question being...What the fuck draws people to do something thats so goddamn dangerous and addictive? I mean, alot of people on this forum always share about how there going to get some more or take another hit...Why the hell do people do this shit?
I don't hang out with burnouts and I personally know of several people who've died from heroine...Why are people so stupid to even try this shit?

Re: Heroine...Opiates in General...
Unless you're referring to a mythological or legendary woman having the qualities of a hero.
I presume you mean Heroin.
and 'people' do it for the same reason they do any drug.

I would say it is because it is one of the best feelings a person can attain, and ultimatly some people will get addicted to feeling fantastic until they feel less than fantastic during the withdrawels.

everyone has different reasons for trying it, some get addicted, some dont...just because you do heroin doesnt make you a burnout...i know people who are completely successful and still partake in doing opiates for fun/relief/etc. doing it really is a pretty amazing feeling, and for some people its worth going through the pain in the ass of w/d. theres plenty of people who have died from consuming too much alcohol, or cocaine...its not just heroin.

Re: Heroine...Opiates in General...
People try heroin for the same reason they try anything, experimentation. Sometimes though that leads to addiction and dependence, and its a hard time getting that monkey off once he's found his way onto your back, but people don't usually realize this until it's too late sadly.

Re: Heroine...Opiates in General...
Heroin... spell it right...
Opiates are just pure enjoyment, happy, calm, and not giving a fuck....
Opiates can be used occasionally, i will occasionally use oxy for recreation but its generally a once a month or so thing... Its great for when your in pain, my first time doing oxy, about 10 minutes after getting home after being in a car wreck that totaled my car and the other guys, cops found an Altoids tin with some dark drug residue in it, they assumed weed but it was probably just mushroom spores and i didn't tell them otherwise... they let me go home without any charges, after giving me a long speech about how "weed is called dope for a reason, you will move on to harder things if you don't stop" so i went up to my room with a bloody hand and bruised ribs and snorted my pain away with 30mg of oxycodone that i got that day.... pain gone, but i should have waited until the next day when the pain really came on the next day....
I also bruised my sternum one day in weight training, when it hurts to breath, kill the pain... so i snorted another 30... pain gone...
Tylenol does not do shit, and our government wont even allow us codeine to help with pain, you Canadians have it lucky... even a weak opiate can do wonders for most pains...
Addiction is a real possibility, i can say that every time i do oxy for a couple of days their is that craving for it in the back of my mind, but it passes after a couple of days and i go on about my life.... In a way knowing personally how addictive strong opiates are to me, i know that i have to stay away from using them any more than occasionally.

Re: Heroine...Opiates in General...
long post about oxy helping pain
tylenol is to normal pain what oxycodone is to serious pain.
oxy, and pretty much any opiate wont even be enough to help the worst pains. in some cases, youd be better off using a numbing drug (novacaine like) over opiates.
that being said, they are still good for moderate-high moderate pain, and of course getting high.

That is the exact reason people try opiates, because they have an alluring stigma surrounding them. Not a 'dirty' stigma like for meth or crack. Heroin kind of does, but still nowhere as bad.
And once your eyes open up, they don't shut.
Thrilling, breathtaking, awe-inspiring...
Yeah. It's that fucking good.
Get some.
That said, I've been sober for a month and a half now. Whoo!

Re: Heroine...Opiates in General...
Why do people bother living if they are almost guaranteed to die?
Because it's possible to. Because life has its ups as well as downs.
It's the same with any 'component' of life, such as deciding to use heroin. Or deciding to become a soldier. Or deciding to rob people for a living. Or deciding to not pay taxes and live like a hermit in the wild.
Some people idolize certain choices as being greatness. Others think the same choices to be ignorant mistakes.
In reality those are all just opinions in different peoples minds. In reality, there are only different opportunities, different possibilities; there is nothing greater to work towards and there are no mistakes to misguide us. There is only what there is, and what we decide to make of it.
Some people decide to be junkies. Is their decision ruining your life? Do you think anyone should have any authority over another persons own body?
If not then maybe you should be content with your personal decision to not use heroin and let those who do use it live out their lives in peace.

I'm a complete libertarian when it comes to drugs, I was merely asking why people choose to take heroin when they clearly KNOW how unbelievably dangerous and addictive it is...
I wasn't attacking anyone, I was simply asking why people make a conscious decision to do something which has a high change of killing them or ruining their life.

Re: Heroine...Opiates in General...

Life is death. You can spend your entire life pretending it isn't if that's what you prefer, but the truth is that death is everywhere, all around you, all the time.
Those who avoid death miss out on life. And those who cling to life still end up dead.
When someone does something which kills them and you miss them after, is it right to be all angry and blame the person for making their choice, or blame whatever they did which killed them? Or is that anger coming from you?
Is it right to be angry and try to make the rest of society conform to your rules so that nobody else feels the pain you've felt (and the highs you have not)? Or is it better to accept your pain, let others live their lives, and let yourself move on and live your own life by letting go of all that anger and pain?
If you suddenly died, would it be right for one of your junkie friends to be angry that you didn't spend the last bit of your life as high as he was?
I'm a complete libertarian when it comes to drugs, I was merely asking why people choose to take heroin when they clearly KNOW how unbelievably dangerous and addictive it is...
I wasn't attacking anyone, I was simply asking why people make a conscious decision to do something which has a high change of killing them or ruining their life.
Maybe they aren't as afraid of life and death as you are? Maybe they value different things then you do?
If they know the risks then maybe they aren't as stupid as you call them and instead they have just simply made the other decision. They took the other possibility.
Why can't you accept that? Whats wrong with others being able to make their own decisions? Instead of calling these people stupid and criticizing their life choices, maybe you should just let go? Accept that you can't control everything and that shit happens?

Re: Heroine...Opiates in General...
i have been hooked (as in mulitple doses on a daily basis) for almost a year now. it becomes your lover, not even an exaggeration. like youi love your girlfriend/parents, you fall in love with the needle and the substance heroin. just like you don't want to go a day without talking to your significant other that's how this is.
what will get you hooked? an escape to a REALLY appealing place. if you enjoy drug use this is the drug for you. its the most "chill" substance you could ever use for one. youll never miss another nights sleep, you dont need any source of entertainment to enjoy. if you ever have something happen in your life you dislike/are frustrated with all you need is a good dose. you are sore? you need a good dose. it is literally like everything you ever wanted from a drug. a good strong sometimes overwhelming rush of euphoria, a warm but not too warm blanket thrown over you and a mind clear of any stress.
when i quit using for a week or so i literally felt like my lover either died or brutally stepped on my heart. it is all you think about, you dwell on it.
another reason it is so appealing is simply beacuse you don't have to do anything for fun. while others search for fulfillment going to parties or going to amusement parks, you can just bang up and lay in your chair with nothing on the t.v. anything is content so you will literally spend your days doing nothing.
you know what the last month of my life consisted of? hittin the spot and compin up, goin to my boys house to get high and watch his tv or goin to mine and lying around. the only legimate hobby ive got is making music (guitar/bass/piano/electronic drums etc)
it becomes your cureall, you are sore? dope. you are bored? dope. you are lonely? dope. you are angry? dope. on top of that you never have to worry about a physical burdon. when i quit temporarily i barely tap my shoulder aginst the wall and it causes a brief moment of pain. dope will prevent you from ever worrying about running into shit.
just like you need nutrients in your body, after a few months of dope use it is regarded as the same as food. just like i need to eat a few square meals a day i need a few decent shots of dope in me. it is just second nature to understand this conceot.
like dr. drew's corny but intelligent ass said on his show not too long ago quitting opiates is literally like someone died in your life. your brain goes through a grieving process.
it is really almost impossible to describe the relationship you will build with this drug but it WILL become a love affair.

because we believe we're invincible, although heroin/opiate use once shit even a weekend isn't going to kill you [unless you are dumb as shit]...
but, somewhere along the line those switches get hit, buttons are pushed, and wires melt together and it becomes another drive of life..

I have been doing a shitload of opiates lately and not really been experiencing anything other then a mild euphoria and stomach shredding nausea. No matter how much or how little OC or dilaudid I consume I experience way too extreme of nausea to enjoy myself. Is this something that goes away or was I just not meant to enjoy opiates/opiods?

Spare me your poorly put together pseudo philosophical bullshit...I'm not angry at anyone, you're misconstruing what I was asking. All I wanted to know was why people do something that in all probability, will only make life worse...Thats all I asked.
Cool man, "Life is Death"...wow, your nihilistic perspective is so enlightening...you're so edgy..

Have you ever seen a H addict? They become slaves to themselves and from my personal experience, they absolutely despise what they've become, just because someone is dependent on something doesn't mean they truly want it or they "don't fear death"...
Stop trying to glorify heroin addiction...It just comes off like your trying to convince yourself more than anyone else

Fine, continue to be a little bitch if thats what you want. Sure, you're not angry at all while you curse all over your thread and call heroin users/addicts stupid.
It seems to me that you're not asking a question so much as making a statement.

I'm not glorifying anything, bitch.
Look at my posts. I said all that shit is in our minds. All these different choices, things we think are great choices or terrible mistakes, thats all in our minds. Heroin isn't a great decision, and it isn't terrible mistake. It can be either one or both, to different people; but in reality, it's just another choice, like all the rest.
If anything, you are the one who's trying to make heroin look a certain way.

yes...Dangerous....
I stated that. And just to end the pointless bickering, my question was: Why would people do something as stupid and dangerous as heroin?
Not, why are heroin addicts so stupid?
Regardless of how you saw it, that was the question asked. Re-read my op, and you will see I never called a person dumb or stupid, only the action.
Actions and people are different. Smart people do dumb shit all the time. I'm asking why when the consequences are known...and often fatal.

oh yeah, well, i guess what i meant to say was why do people make such stupid mistakes...my bad
but like i said, people who do choose heroin quite often wish they didn't...And wish they could stop...most addicts aren't proud of being addicted, most loathe themselves for being one

Re: Heroine...Opiates in General...
I've done heroin for over a year, just quit last week. I've never in my life had withdrawals to any drug (besides feending for coke/crack or any cocaine product...but that's not a withdrawal, that's just wanting more...it doesn't last), anyways, everyone that touches herron doesn't get instantly addicted. It's one of the most amazing drugs in existence, there's nothing like the high. I even shot; though I think maybe I did have very minor withdrawal symptoms at one point when I did it for a couple straight weeks (i was kinda irritable), nothing lasting really. And it was literally nothing for me to stop; I simply never went and got anymore.

I never said anything contrary.
Obviously if they thought that way when they made their choice to use heroin, they wouldn't have made that choice. But they did make it. They thought differently.
They didn't think it would be a stupid mistake, they thought it was a great decision. That is the only answer to your question.
Does everyone who decides to try heroin eventually think that decision was nothing but a stupid mistake? No, because not everyone ruins their life over it.

Very true btw. Speed (including cocaine...I've never fucked with meth), you can leave the fuck alone whenever you want without any long term consequences really. Besides feeling a bit tired for the next few days.

Well first off because most all of us drug users are into trying knew things, then it does feel great, and to finish it off just keep in mind that no one becomes addicted overnight, nor do I think its the goal of anyone, they just wanna keep feeling good, that simple, then boom you have a problem. I guess its like trying to pinpoint exactly when you figured out you where coming down with a cold, the time it takes you to become self aware is what I mean, you most figure out there problem has gotten that out of control its too late, they have some addiction to the drug...

Re: Heroine...Opiates in General...
i didn't wake up one morning and decide that i was going to get addicted to heroin. i just had extra money and had just got outta a toxic relationship. it just made everything seem alright. iv heroin was the best high that i had ever felt. it's just a really selfish lover, ya know, and it really changes you as a person. it was my choice to start doing it, but it's a death sentence that i really wish i'd never signed up for. the sickness, the being broke, the lost relationships and all around heartache caused just aren't worth it for me anymore, but not being well is just not an option. i think that you can maintain snorting and smoking it, maybe, but shooting is just a one way ticket to hell. i don't think i'll ever be the same.

what will get you hooked? an escape to a REALLY appealing place. if you enjoy drug use this is the drug for you. its the most "chill" substance you could ever use for one. youll never miss another nights sleep, you dont need any source of entertainment to enjoy. if you ever have something happen in your life you dislike/are frustrated with all you need is a good dose. you are sore? you need a good dose. it is literally like everything you ever wanted from a drug. a good strong sometimes overwhelming rush of euphoria, a warm but not too warm blanket thrown over you and a mind clear of any stress.
when i quit using for a week or so i literally felt like my lover either died or brutally stepped on my heart. it is all you think about, you dwell on it.
another reason it is so appealing is simply beacuse you don't have to do anything for fun. while others search for fulfillment going to parties or going to amusement parks, you can just bang up and lay in your chair with nothing on the t.v. anything is content so you will literally spend your days doing nothing.
you know what the last month of my life consisted of? hittin the spot and compin up, goin to my boys house to get high and watch his tv or goin to mine and lying around. the only legimate hobby ive got is making music (guitar/bass/piano/electronic drums etc)
it becomes your cureall, you are sore? dope. you are bored? dope. you are lonely? dope. you are angry? dope. on top of that you never have to worry about a physical burdon. when i quit temporarily i barely tap my shoulder aginst the wall and it causes a brief moment of pain. dope will prevent you from ever worrying about running into shit.
just like you need nutrients in your body, after a few months of dope use it is regarded as the same as food. just like i need to eat a few square meals a day i need a few decent shots of dope in me. it is just second nature to understand this conceot.
like dr. drew's corny but intelligent ass said on his show not too long ago quitting opiates is literally like someone died in your life. your brain goes through a grieving process.
it is really almost impossible to describe the relationship you will build with this drug but it WILL become a love affair.

lol I do opiates all the time because I never desire them and I've pretty much proven to myself I'm not gonna OD on them no matter how fucked up the combo is I always wake up the next day. I don't see the potential for addiction to be honest. Speed on the other hand I cant do it just one day I gotta do it like 2-3 days. But even though I like the high from stims better there's always an equally low crash, opiates get you high then when the wear off you get warm and sleepy and just drift off. stimulants you lay their in your bed feeling anxious over nothing completely unable to fall asleep while you think of how much you hate everything. god last night was terrible fuck speed

Re: Heroine...Opiates in General...
Masturbation is dangerous. Crossing the street is dangerous.
Inserting things in your rectum for pleasure is dangerous.
Why don't you just go ahead and say everything is addicting and dangerous?
People are going to do what they want to do, because it feels good.

Because not everything is addicting and dangerous? How many people die from masturbation?

So why did you make this thread then? Was it because you just wanted to bitch and moan about your dislike of heroin? To tell us all how stupid it is? Nobody cares. They will do what they want.
Or do you actually have trouble accepting that some people will make decisions different from your own?
Your bitching and moaning about it isn't going to change anything anyways.

So why did you make this thread then?
I wanted to know from people who do heroin, why they do heroin...especially when they know how dangerous it is.
Was it because you just wanted to bitch and moan about your dislike of heroin?
No.
To tell us all how stupid it is?
No.
Nobody cares.
Says the person who has posted in here 6 times...About to be 7....
Or do you actually have trouble accepting that some people will make decisions different from your own?
No. You're asking me questions I've already given you answers to.
Your bitching and moaning about it isn't going to change anything anyways.
I never intended to change anything.
