Default Therapy

Well first off, I dont think this should go in here but I didnt know where else it would go.

Today I have my first therapy session of my life. I decided to get help because of a relationship I was in for about a year. It ended kinda shitty, and im having a lot of trouble getting over it / dealing with life as it is right now. Im stressed out all the time, and am starting to have anxiety problems. Im in no way suicidal, but it is definitely a rough day almost every day. SOOO like I said im seeing someone today to start off my sessions, and I was just wondering how therapy helped other people with situations similar to this?

It depends. You have to want it to work in order to get anything out of it. You have to completely open up. Another big thing is you have to feel comfortable with your therapist because if you don't then you won't be able to truly open up and let him/her know how your feeling.

Personally, I hate therapy and therapists. I think most of them are crocks. My friends and family do just fine.

Well the thing is, I dont feel comfortable enough talking to my family / friends about anything. To be honest, I have a problem opening up to people. I know the whole point of therapy is to open up, so its like a catch 22 but oh well.

As far as liking my therapist, that was one of the main things I thought about before deciding to go to one. I chose a woman because Im hoping its easier to open up. I hope she is nice and easy to talk to.

Well im on my way now so wish me luck!
