Going to sleep
Do any of you take anything to go to sleep at night on a regular basis? I have been taking benadril or random sleeping pills almost every sun-thurs for the last 6 weeks straight so I don't have to try to sleel every night, it just happens. Any of you do this also? It just seems easy, and they give me a sort of buzz that alcohol dosen't give me. I would just do drugs for a buzz but I might have to piss in a cup anytime so I can only drink or do other lame ass shit. btw, I don't soley do it for a buzz either, mostly to sleep.

how did you get your dosage increased to 30mg nightly?
Ive been prescribed for about 2 years now still at 10mg, Im afraid to try and get it bumped up though because I think they may suspect abuse. And I really need this shit to sleep. But 10mg seems to barely work anyone I have such a hardcore tolerance, i barely even know if its kicking in anymore.

Two words.... DOXYLAMINE SUCCINATE
It will knock you the fuck out and puts diphenhydramine to shame; its the active antihistamine in NyQuil, sold it generic form at your local pharmacy
As a chronic insomnic for as long as god knows, I take 6mg of Ativan along with currently 40mgs of Valium, 20 mgs of Ambien and a couple shots of rum or whiskey. Usually does the trick; along with a pretty much unlimited supply of xanx bars and 2mg klonpins if I need them.

Re: Going to sleep
Sometimes when I know I won't be sleeping anytime soon but need to get up early I'll take 25 or 50mg of diphenhydramine. I think of it as sort of a reverse caffeine.

Re: Going to sleep
I used to go through bottles of nyquil like crazy in high school. I would buy them in packs, three to a pack (a buy two get one free deal). But then I decided that sleep wasn't as important as I thought it was and that if I really wanted to I could just nap at school. Recently I have been taking benedryl to help me sleep. It started off as just taking one then after awhile it went up to six at the most. I didn't like how helpless it made me feel so I decided to just suck it up and go to sleep when I manage to. I usually wake up sometime after one in the afternoon now.

Re: Going to sleep
Typically I'll meditate for a few minutes while sitting up in my bed before calming down enough to go to sleep. Sometimes if I really have difficulty I'll take 1.5gs of tryptophan with perhaps some 5-HO tryptophan as well. Melatonin doesn't work for me and I'd rather stick to natural amino acid derivatives. I'll probably try some valerian root eventually as well.

This,
This,
&
This.
I took a very small amount (12.5mg) with 1mg of melatonin last night, smoked 2 or 3 kief-topped bowls, then knocked the fuck out. Gives a great body load type of buzz before you succumb to sleep.
Peace.

Yeah that shit's the best for OTC, no question. The brand name is Unisom, by the way. Make sure you get the doxylamine ones, because Unisom makes a diphenhydramine product too.

I wonder if my benzo tolerance has even gone down; it's been about 16 months now without a single dose.

Re: Going to sleep
usually 75-100 mg Diphen + a couple bowls of some midgrade.
if i don't have weed i up the diphen to 200 mg and that puts me right out. plus spider hallucinations before bed, always fun.
if i have alcohol i just drink myself to sleep, if i have xanax i just wake up the next morning, if i have ambien or sonata i sleep like a bebe, etc..
But fuck diphen, i can never wake up!!

Try a sleep schedule it's better than taking pills to tell you're body what to do. You won't listen to me but you'll figure it out eventually. Or... do productive shit all day that way, when you actually get to go to sleep you're dead fucking tired.

Well the first 10 months of that was spent incarcerated so it wasn't like I really had a choice in the beginning-- which was always the hardest part for me, anyways. Once I get over that initial hump and give my brain a bit of time to reset itself and recover it becomes a hell of a lot easier to maintain once I actually hit the street.
Was getting all my shit from a doctor, obviously, and funny enough, the guy lost his damn license while I was sitting in jail-- more than likely for shady prescribing habits. I basically told the guy I got now that I am not a good candidate for benzo therapy; I mean shit, it's only fun for what, the first six months? You know that as well as I do...

I pretty much get all my shit from a doctor too, a couple here and there from the street but not that much. Lol at your doctor man they honestly fucking deserve it, most of them atleast. I've had the same crooked motherfucker for what seems forever, and the bastard deserves it. To be completley honest im surprised hes not sitting in federal prison where he belongs, but regardless I need the bastard now.
And you did the smart thing by telling your new doc that your not right for benzo therapy, shit If I could go back to the beginning I would of never of taken that first klonopin, or that first Roche. No reason to leave any door open eh? That's a chip that you dont want on your shoulder and that nobody should have. Regardless if you were sitting in prison during w/d, props to you for kicking the habit man, benzos aint no easy shit regardless if your locked up in the pen or out on the street.
And your right, the first six months I felt as though they were gods personal gift to me, after that though, it literally is all a blank.

QFT
...a slightly different recipe:
1. 9mg melatonin
2. a tablespoon or two of valerian root extract (chased with warm milk)
3. 3 or 4 caps of that "herbal sleep aid blend" which includes valerian anyways, along with a bunch of other sedative herbs
4. half a cigarette; because it usually falls out of my mouth while I drool off to sleep before I finish smoking it.

I agree with the people who said doxylamine. Best OTC sedative period.
Nothing knocks me out like some bong rips though. Even though different strains of weed are supposed to have different effects (some more stimulating, some more sedating, some more psychedelic, etc), I have yet to smoke a strain which didn't exhibit very strong sedative effects.
EDIT: This post was written by my boyfriend Tick Tock; he didn't know that I was logged in and accidentally posted under my name.

Re: Going to sleep
I used to suffer from pretty bad insomnia and used to treat it (with little success) with weed, alcohol or diphen. Never really worked that well but I learned to put up with it then suddenly one day it was gone and if anything I sleep to much now. I try not to take anything before I go to bed unless its been a night out or something, fucks up my sleeping patterns. Sucks I couldnt get perscribed anything but over here they dont throw perscriptions at you for trivial things like insomnia.

Might have been the fact that I seem to have had a run of patronising doctors all my life or the fact that they don't like throwing scripts at people for anything less then life threatening unlike in the US. Being as it was between the ages of 15-19 probably had a big factor in it too, they don't seem to like giving young people stuff. The best advice I ever got was "drink a glass of warm milk, have a bath and read a book"

100mg diphenhydramine or 75mg doxylamine and a few hits off a blunt of dro an hour later is enough for me. You gotta take the DPH/DXL early around 8/9 so you won't be feeling drowsy the next day.

Re: Going to sleep
Occasionally I'll use Benadryl or whatever that stuff is in Nyquil, but it doesn't work very well. I get drowsy pretty easily and fall asleep quick, but its always a terrible night of sleep. Usually, after some number of hours I will start having vivid dreams....and when I dream it means I'm not sleeping well. Towards morning I will end up tossing and turning for a while, waking up like every half hour and then dozing back off. Whenever that happens I never feel refreshed in the morning. Because of this I generally avoid taking anything OTC to get to sleep. I dunno why it happens either.
