Finding myself not liking other people's expectations
Decided to clean up the explanation of my situation a bit.
In simple terms, I woke up to find that the expectations that were placed on me by my parents arent what I intend for myself as they are very forceful in their insistance that I comply with their wishes. I have already set the wheels in motion to turn my life around and the final roadblock is getting my parents to backoff and let me deal with my issues in my own way which I have been. The original question is that given that sitting down and having a rational conversation about where I want to be and who I want to be usually ends in either one of us having a shouting match over it, just wondering what I can do to avoid this and let them know that this is the path I have chosen and I'm prepared to face the consequences good or bad.

Re: Finding myself not liking other people's expectations
Have a talk with them. Explain to them, that even though you know they love you and want the best for you, it's your life. And you're the only person that knows what's best for you. So if they want your happiness, they should let you go, make your own mistakes, make decisions and take full responsibilities for them - let you be a man.
If they are stubborn / do not understand, do what you know is right anyway. They might say they want you to follow their advice now, but in the end of the day, they would respect you more for this years down the road. And you will respect yourself more.
So think it over, consider both their arguments and yours - and if you know it's the right thing, do it. Don't let them hold you down.

Re: Finding myself not liking other people's expectations
Cleaned it up, was a bit unclear about exactly what advice I'm needing.
Good advice. I'm intending to grit my teeth for the next couple weeks and put some more cash aside and in the meantime try to track down a place to rent. Actually what I've noticed with most of the people I've talked about to this about, they've had the same thing to an extent.
