Dumping over the phone...
So I've been considering breaking up with my boyfriend... There's been a lot of issues since we first started dating and through the entire relationship I've had doubts. I figure it's time to break things off with him, as much as I don't want to, I can't see things getting better between us.
I know the general opinion of breaking up with someone over the phone is that it's a pussy's way out. I wouldn't like to think I'd have ever gone for this option but my boyfriend is a very smooth talker and I'm a little nervous that if I do it in person he'll easily be able to talk me out of it or convince me it's a bad idea, more so than if I were to just do it over the phone. This would be my first time breaking up with someone, also.
I'd like some opinions please, and experiences if you can share.

Re: Dumping over the phone...
If he can talk you out of it, it means you're unsure about doing this.
If you can breakup with him in person and stick with your decision, no matter what he says or does then you've made your decision.
The phone way works well but it leaves too many loose threads for him to pick up. He'll call, he'll write, he'll email, IM and telegraph you until he can see you and try to work things out.
Doing it in person tends to be a finality. You tell him it's over, say you're sorry, tell him it's not him but you (that's an old one), say sorry again, tell him your reasons, say sorry yet again and get the hell out of there.
Only if you're sure though.

Owned.
Anyway, it sounds like you're not really sure what you want. So I'll say, if you're sure you want to do it, then do it in person or don't do it at all. The only sure way to know you want to break up is if you can resist him sweet-talking you back into it.

Re: Dumping over the phone...
Thanks for the advice, guys...
I can see where you're coming from. The reason why I feel I need to break things off is because I AM so doubtful about the relationship in general. My other break-ups were basically mutual - we had both come to the conclusion that things weren't good between us and that was it, it was that simple.
I was going to go see him later and talk to him, try to get these issues cleared up for once. I'm thinking that'll basically be the breaking point for me. I always have figured though, that if I'm having doubts about the relationship at all that it is evidence right there that what I need to do is end it.
Am I wrong?

I'd say that's kind of wrong, yeah. If you start having doubts about a relationship, that probably means you should at least try working on it, or you've just wasted a lot of time on something that you obviously don't find important anyway.
Kind of like buying a new car every time you get a problem with your engine.

That makes sense, thanks... See, since we started dating [I'm not sure if you've seen my other thread a while ago] it seems like he's been putting his ex's feelings before mine... That's one of our biggest issues. I wanted to give him a chance to explain himself, but I think it's just wrong what he's been doing. I've been understanding and sympathetic to his situation because they have a kid together and I get that they'll always have to maintain a 'sort-of' relationship, but I think at times he takes it too far and considers what he does to her more often than how he makes me feel.
I'll most likely do it in person, it's probably only right really.

Do what in person? Break up or give him a chance to explain himself?

Well if you're sure you can do it with no regrets or no second thoughts, then good luck to you.
Though I really think you should get a second opinion before you do. I'm only 15, man. :(

Sound advice.
To OP: do it in person. You get to see their reaction. It's funnier that way.

Personally, I've never taken a dump through a phone, but my friend did it to me and it's seriously nasty.
